Fram paper filter! K&N runs a risk of coating your MAF wires with oil thereby screwing everything up. There is no real horsepower gain there. Paper is tried and true.

The K&N oil issue is only for the suckers that put too much oil on theirs. A very, very light coat is all I use on my K&N. Less is more.

i posted this a while ago... but I did back to back to back testing on a DynaPack Dyno.. using a lid and a paper filter, K&N, and no filter.. 1-.5hp difference from K&N to paper..

Best paper filter so far, is Wixx, or use STP.. K&N drop in filters arent worth 50$..

Oh, God - not this argument again. We just got done going back and forth on this one for days:

I was really hoping that it would go away for a while

I'm still not on the K&N air filter bandwagon, but their oil filters with the 1" nut welded on the end are the shizzle Maybe I'll run an oiled air filter on my car for an oil change interval in the future to see if I end up with more silicon in the results (an indication of lack of quality filtration). Budgeting for a new engine anyways...might as well get some more independent data on the subject.

Oh...and if I had the choice between the K&N and the Holley...I'd pick the Holley. There are numerous accounts on here of it having a better seal with the air lid.

I had K&N from the previous owner. Drove 8000 miles myself with it and got turned off by the recent thread about them and bought a Fram paper replacement. It even fits slightly better and it's much thicker which gives me peace of mind. So now I am thinking of pawning off my 16,000 mile K&N.
