Default TPIS intake mani. 20 rwhp over FAST!

http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geuvJD9k...=14%26blogId=1

Has anyone else heard of this thing? I cannot find it anywhere, but in this article it put up 20 rwhp over the proven FAST 90/90, so needless to say, my interest is sparked. If anyone could provide some information on this thing, let me know. I'm sure a few of you will be interested as well.

The LS6 with a stock TB performs quite well, but with a 90mm TB it really wakes up. TPIS is the only mfg to make an adaptation for an LS6/90mm TB. It is also sold through Lingenfelter. TPIS claims they increased 18 rwhp on their reference CTS-V, which had headers and stock catback exhaust with their "oval" TB on a LS6 manifold.
I have the same combo and can attest to a very nice, though unmeasured, power increase that feels like 20 rwhp. IMHP the TPIS LS6/90mm is a much cheaper and perhaps comparable alternative to a FAST. Plus it looks bone stock if you use an LS2 TB.

I guess I need to contact them for a price. I think it just might fit under my hood, I have no MAF to deal with, so throttle body on top and get a carb style air filter to go over the throttle body and we may be good to go. I dunno, just a thought.

Get you a set of L92 heads and a L76 intake The modified ls6 is close to the price of a fast and for a few dollars more you can get heads with 2.16 int valves flows 300cfm with the intake attached .

Right now, it's a toss up between the L76/L92 intake/head setup and this creation from TPIS. If it'll fit under my raptor hood and is available at a decent price, then that's the way I'll go.

Are you meaning the Spyder intake????

Yes it's good at PEAK, but it's big and pricey. Also take a look at how much HP it produces at 3000 and 4000rpm. The FAST 90 significantly out performs it in these areas.

For a street biased car this is NOT the manifold to run.

Thanks for the input guys. I sent an email to TPIS, but if it's not so strretable, I'm heading the L76/L92 route.

You can consider that against having a ported FAST 90 with no MAF. AFR ports them and you can run no maf with any intake.

with this style of intake the benifits are : larger than 90mm TB and the often debated air distrubition.. think of the number 7 cyl.. These style intakes (like mine) are what a lot of the bigger CI fi cars are now running, and a few large CI n/a.

Is the TPIS spyder for carbed setups only?

Also I heard its iron, and its 1k....if so it doesnt sound like the intake for me. Plus a huge cowl on an RX7 would look kinda silly

a big aspect you need to look into the elbow you will have to buy to decide if you can even fit the TPIS under your hood

It looks like the Weiand sucks. It has the lowest numbers and its an aftermarket intake. WTF. I'm getting an LS6 soon.
