Default 90 mm FAST Intake + TB

I have 1,200 bucks to spend on my car and was thinking about a FAST Intake and the Nick Williams Throttle Body package. I have read that some people think it's overkill for a basic bolt on car, and others that just did it. My mods are in my sig and eventually I want to do a cam(no heads). Is it worth dishing out 1200 for the Intake and TB ? Realistically, what kind of power am I looking at?

Or any other things to look at for that kind of money? I was thinking suspension work or even rims... I have no idea ! I just need some help

Not worth it right now, you could spend the money elsewhere.

I suggest you save it for when those 4.10's in the 10-bolt explode.

You could do a new clutch, shifter, subframe connectors, wheels/tires, etc.

$1200 would be better spent on a few more foundation type mods...i.e. clutch, etc. It certainly won't do much in the way of getting new rims. I'd also say start saving for a new rear end or a rebuild.

When you start modifiying these cars to any extent, you'd better be expecting breakage or part failures of some sort.

For $1200 I would buy an LS6 intake, port your TB, get a big cam, pushrods, valvesprings, and Ti retainers. These can all be had within that price range and you're looking at over 50 RWHP depending on the cam. If you're going to get a cam eventually then why get an intake that IS overkill for your current setup? You will see MUCH bigger gains going with the cam first. If you finally decide to get that extra 10RWHP from the FAST versus the LS6 then you could always sell the LS6 (they're always in demand).

I would probably save it for a rearend. If you are hell bent on spending it now then I would do some things off of this list:

LS6 intake
Clutch
Subframes
LCA's w/relocation brackets
Panhard rod
Torque arm

Hypothetically speaking, if I was to do a cam only swap... I wanted the MS4...but that's a big *** cam The package on TSP is 700 bucks plus installation... How much power should I be expecting? I am kind of worried about adding a cam and not having an intake ...

I was also thinking about suspension work...

I'm in a good pickle

suspension is really fine...

cam swaps with everything accounted for are close to $2000.

if you are nice to your rear end it will last, a rear end girdle would be a big help.

With what you have now, and a MS4 package tuned, I'd expect 390-410rwhp. Add 10 with LS6 intake. Your clutch is going to die though.

Suspension mods are great. Nothing like blasting off while someone else is spinning *****. But if you hook up, your going to fry the rear end. I destroyed mine with headers only, on 245/50/16 walmart tires, on the STREET.

You mentioned the cam package is $700 for the cam, rod, springs, retainers but you will also need a tune ($200-$500 going from mail order to dyno tune). Add in install costs of maybe $500 and you're anywhere from $1400 to $1700 unless you do it yourself. I would do the cam swap then get tuning software ($500) that way with whatever mods you plan down the road you have infinite tuning ability. It was mentioned that you will need a clutch eventually which is true...I'm at 56K miles with about 12K on this setup and my clutch could use an upgrade. If you're pushing 400RWHP and you throw in a new clutch then I wouldn't expect your rear to last more than a couple hard launches with the 410's. I think my stock clutch is what's saving my rear from blowing right now plus the fact that I don't launch hard very often at all.

My car has been dynotuned (Put down 345 HP and 355 ft/lbs)and the guy who does my work would do my tuning and cam swap. I did throw in a Spec Stage 2 so that might help. I mean definitely not the best, but better than the stocker/stage 1.

Can I just throw on the cam(and supporting mods) with what I have done?

I don't see any reason why you can't throw the cam in there. If you have the same guy install the cam package and tune it then you're good to go. I would just worry about the added power killing the rear gears on a hard launch. The upgraded clutch will not slip like a worn-out stocker (shouldn't at least) so more of the power is available to "shock" the rear on a good launch.
