Default KOOKS Headers Question?

I finaly orderd my kooks 1 3/4 long-tubes . I know that these headers include all bolts and gaskets needed for installation, would you guys recommend using these bolts and gaskets? or is it better to get the dealer gaskets and aftermarket bolts?

i would go with stage 8 locking header bolts. headers are notorious for loose fasteners, hell you spent that much on kook's, buy new bolt you cheap ***!! j/k

The gaskets that come with kooks are verry nice, they are that of a felt material that seals very well. However, the GM mls gaskets are cheap insurance.

Thoes are a bitch on an f-body. If I went with different bolts it would be the ARP studs.

the bolts that come with the kooks couldnt be any better imo.. use them. i have a set of brand new gm gaskets i got with my overhaul gasket kit, i used the ones that came with the kooks they looked like great gaskets, havent used them long enough to say if there better or worse(havent had a problwm with the stockers going strong at 70k when i took off the originals, so i dont think they could be much better then the stockers.there easy to change anyway so i just went with the percy's gasket's that came with the kooks.

I just re-used my stock bolts and stock gaskets. No problems whatsoever. Cleaned up the threads of the stock bolts as was good to go.

I wouldn't mess with the stage 8 locking header bolt BS. They are a PAIN. I used my stock bolts and Percy's seal-4-good gaskets when I did my Kooks (bolts have been in/out about 20 times over the years) and have no problems.

The Kooks should come with Percy's carbon-seal gaskets. Not as nice as the seal-4-goods, which are the best, but I hear good things about them.

Use the factory bolts. Remember you are tightening into aluminum heads, they do not vibrate loose like the old cast iron heads use to unless they were not tight from the beginning.
