Anyone make a cat delete that just bolts in
Well everyone knows that Im in the middle of a build up and have gone with shorties as a compromise to pass CA smog stuff. My rational was I dont want to have to pull my headers every two years and then re-install them afterwards...this would also mean Ive got to have and store a smog legal exhaust system at home ...akkk more junk in the garage!
But..I started to think..what if I just had a set of tubes that replaced the stock cats...same angles....flanges ..everything except the cat....that only involves 5 nuts to pop in or out...three on the flanges that attach to the headers and two ito the Y pipe....easy..that Id be willing to do every two years..and If I got stopped on the street by a cop who stuck his/her head under my car and found I was not running cats (Im assuming its just a fix-it ticket) I could just pop the cats in..get it signed off and be done..
Dose this have merit?
Edit..I guess its not that far fetched..I found these for a Mitsu
One with cats and one with aftermarket cats along with no cats. While the stock cats are not the greatest perfomance part they are not the biggest thing holding you back from all out power. Glad i'm not in cali. My car just did emissions testing in St. Louis and passed fine. Love my O2 sims.
