Default Anyone make a cat delete that just bolts in

A friend and I were talking the other day and he said that Id make so much more power if I altered my exacus and ran catless.....

Well everyone knows that Im in the middle of a build up and have gone with shorties as a compromise to pass CA smog stuff. My rational was I dont want to have to pull my headers every two years and then re-install them afterwards...this would also mean Ive got to have and store a smog legal exhaust system at home ...akkk more junk in the garage!

But..I started to think..what if I just had a set of tubes that replaced the stock cats...same angles....flanges ..everything except the cat....that only involves 5 nuts to pop in or out...three on the flanges that attach to the headers and two ito the Y pipe....easy..that Id be willing to do every two years..and If I got stopped on the street by a cop who stuck his/her head under my car and found I was not running cats (Im assuming its just a fix-it ticket) I could just pop the cats in..get it signed off and be done..

Dose this have merit?

Edit..I guess its not that far fetched..I found these for a Mitsu

Have a shop mandrel bend you a piece of pipe Your not going to gain a huge amount of power by passing the cats but you'll gain sound

Thats contrary to what everyone else has said to this point...their point is that the cats are the most restrictive part of the system...and by eliminating them my shorties will be able to perform their best.....you get the picture

I've read that the cats only hold back a minimal amout of corked up horspower. I would check around to see if anyone has a back to back test.
One with cats and one with aftermarket cats along with no cats. While the stock cats are not the greatest perfomance part they are not the biggest thing holding you back from all out power. Glad i'm not in cali. My car just did emissions testing in St. Louis and passed fine. Love my O2 sims.

I remember reading in the internal section several months ago, on a medium head/cam setup, cats only cost 10 rwhp. Ymmv. I don't think they reduce that much hp.

Yeah but ten hp is ten Im loosing from the stock cats....Im betting I could get a pair of Hi flow cats for less than buying a ORY to stock...all this could go away if i get my TD system
