you'd think that, but it really doesn't hurt performance. proof is many people have went to the SLP y-pipe and seen no difference in performance. the SLP y-pipe is better looking and will change your exhaust note, but don't expect any horsepower gain out of it. you'd probably get more from a K&N filter.

You can do both. It does help with the banging for either one. Solid mounts can do it too, but I would not suggest it for someone that was worried about the pipe banging anyway.
If one is poly the other one needs to be. I have solid mounts all around. It is a dd nightmare.
