Default Has anyone used this...easily?

Im not trying to make a million new threads or anything. I searched and couldnt find someting useful. So, my question is, has anyone ever used a universal x/h pipe kit from summit or jegs? How easy was it, like did you have to do any welding or cutting? Thanks

I can't comment first hand.. but I'd advise just going somewhere and getting it done. Maybe someone else will have a different opinion..

I know the xpipe kit fits the LT1 cars. and there adj. by changing the length of the pipes on the X part to adj. width to fit to your headers. I plan on putting one on my LT1 soon. havent seen this on the LScars though. possibly because TSP has there dual kit available, noones tried it.

A proper custom setup from an exhaust shop is the best way.

Either that or take a look at the TSP Rumbler X dual exhaust they sell off the shelf.

The real problem with some of these universal kits is the xpipe is not volumetric. That means it doesn't have the cross-sectional area it is supposed to. A xpipe crossover should flow twice what a single pipe should, and some of the universal kits don't. If you can post a picture or a link you can tell by the pic.

Generally speaking the universal kits are ok, like the one from Dr.Gas is exceptional. Sometimes it might be cheaper to buy a universal kit, and then have your exhaust guy put it together on the car. Best to get a quote, and see what it will come out to both ways.

They are used widely in the LT1 world, mostly because no one has offered a bolt-in off the shelf kit for those cars like TSP has for LS1 f-bodys. They seem to fit just fine.

I haven't seen or heard of anyone using the universal H-pipes, but I'm sure that they could work just as easily. I'm getting ready to do TD's on my LT1 car and I'm gonna give this at try:

I think it'll work pretty good. I'll be posting up picks of my TD set-up when its all done

Because its not the same thing. Look at the pics again. I don't know that it would make any more power than the Jegs/summit kits, but it looks like it might fit a little easier to me. If I was betting which would make more power between the 2...I'd go with the Flowmaster kit though being as there is probably far more R&D time with it than there is with a cheap kit from Jegs/summit.

Notice he has an LT1, not LS1. Those kits are not bolt on for LT1s.

besides that he has an LT1, I could see an LS1 owner wanting to try it cause it would accomplish the exact same thing as the TSP exh., but half the cost, almost. if it fits. the diff being one would require some work to make it fit right.
