how the hell do i get the driver side header in!!???

Default how the hell do i get the driver side header in!!???

ok im outside putting in my kooks long tubes and all is going good till i go for the driver side and i just cant get the damn thing in. is there a secret to getting this side in? i tried from the top but the steering shaft is in the way and i do not want to undo the entire steering assembly so how do i go at it from under neath?

Is your car high enough, also you may need to cut,grind the kmember or lift the motor.

the car is high enough with room to spare. does everyone have to cut their k member to install these?

ah, im not sure about kooks. pacesetters are easy. just keep toying with it, it really helps if u have a buddy grab from the top of the car while your trying to get it in from the bottom

ive read about doing that before just dont know what tab theyre talking about and where exactly it is? what it looks like?

lol dont cut something your not too sure about. i think u can remove the steering linkage.. that would probably get u a ton of room

ya i tried removing the bolt that holds one link to the actual steering collumn but from there i cant get the link off the collumn shaft? any way to go about doing this?

The header has to go in straight up and down, with the collector pointed straight down. The car has to be up in the air quite a bit.

I had to cut my tab to get my Pacesetters in. You might try raising the motor just a hair, and see where that gets you.

I installed two sets of kooks but they were the 1 3/4 but like said above the colector has to be pointed straight down and angled slightly to the left and just have to keep trying it at different angles and it will fit. I did not have to cut anything or grind anything to get them to fit. If you cant get it take a break and relax then try again. Good luck

i dented in the firewall right below the gas pedal about 1/2", but that was for pacesetters.

To get the 1-7/8" Kooks in, you have to unbolt the motor mounts and jack up the motor. I had to remove all the pedestal to K-member bolts out of the driver side, then back all the ones on the passenger side almost all the way out. I then jacked up the motor untill the manifold almost hit the cowl, then the header went in. Make sure you disconnect your air lid and make sure the manifold doesn't get too close.

I also removed my steering shaft, but try it with it still in first.

The passenger side needed serious grinding on the K-member before it sat right. Here's a pic of what I grinded, but it's a bit more than actually needed. I wanted to make DAMN sure it cleared lol. It will go in fine, but rest on the K-member after it's bolted in, which is why you need to grind.

The steering stem comes out with 2 bolts, very easy if you need to do it.

I did a pacesetter LT install about 6 months ago and the driver side took me 6 hours to get in. I got mad and just man handled it in there. I couldn't take it anymore. Push, bang and wiggle.
