Default A4 guys with a Crank pulley

The crank pulley is about the only bolt on I dont have so Im thinking about adding it b4 my tune. Do you guys need the altenator pulley too or is that just if u have a bigger sound system.Anybody have any charging problems when running the a/c?Leaning towards the Powerb/SLP pulley.

most of the people that go underdrive get a overdrive alt pully to go along with it. ive heard of the lights dimming out and idle not being as smooth

Depends on what you have in the car. Mine will dim out at idle, but driving normally it's fine, it has 3.73's in the back. People with Systems in their cars might see a bigger difference.

Iv heard if u do the alt pulley too, instead of getting around 10rwhp it would be more around 5rwhp.Is that right?

I just have the crank pulley I was told by speed inc I did not need the alt pulley. I cant say whether or not my lights are dimmer since i never drive the car at night I also have a sub in the back and ive never experienced any probs with it. I did notice though it did idle just a little tiny bit rougher however but its very hard to notice so i personaly dont think u need one
goodluck

crank pulley is fine on an A4 unless sit at stoplights in the dark for long periods of time or have a big stereo system. If you need more power, you can get an overdrive for the altenator.

It's late and I been working all night, but I dont seem to understand how that would be.... You put on a smaller crank pulley in order to gain power. So theoretically if you put on a smaller alternator pulley, should that not gain you power aswell?

Oh I totally agree that it wont make a difference, but I would think that if it did make a difference, it wouldnt be a power loss .

I have an A4 and I went with the smaller under drive alt pulley. Havent had any problems here.

The crank pulley is the driving pulley so making it smaller runs the belt slower. The alternator pulley is a driven pulley so making it smaller makes it spin faster so it puts out more current. The majority of the gains you get from an underdrive crank pulley come from spinning the water pump slower, not the alternator slower.

i have the powerbond/slp pulley. if your worried about dimming, idle issues, etc. just have your idle raised a few 100rpm when you get your tune, it cleared up the small amount of dimming i would get at stoplights.

So getting the alt. pulley replaced too WONT rob horsepower from you? Thinking about it, it shouldn't but I'm no genius so I have to ask. I understand that the crank will be spinning less because of its new pulley, slowing down the alternator, so making the alternator smaller once again will make it spin faster after you replace it???

Or am I wrong?
