Default 160 Thermostat? Should i Do it. Please Help

Ok I am getting my Pacesetter LTs ORY cutouts LS6 intake and ported TB installed. Plus a dyno tune. Should I get a 160 stat before I get them installed?

put it in before the dynotune so the tuner can change what temperature you fans turn on and off

Yeah, thats what I had - I have it stay right around 175 degrees minimum, because as most know, LS1's like a LITTLE heat at least. 160's too cold if I remember right.

160 degree begins to open @ 160 & is fully open @ 175 if i remember correctly

worth it IMO - do it right before the tune for the obvious reasons

I'm also thinking of doing a 160, but I had a question, I've heard from some that it almost runs too cold for the ls1? Let me know what you guys know

Same here. No problems with my slp 160 but make sure you have it tuned if you want it to do anything

No problem with mine either(10 months so far). you can go to ORielly's and i think it's the 6.0 trucks or what not that have them and there only like 12.00 instead of 50. And it's the same motorad piece anyways just with out the hypertech box

I had a 160* stat in the bird, and it was tuned, coolant temp held steady at 182* (I had a 98). Good mod, keeps the engine running cooler. It has yet to be proven that a hotter engine makes more power, in lsxs.
