Default I just bought an EWP!

....Meziere, of course. In red!

I suspect it does not come with a thermostat or wiring/relay. Nevertheless, I can't wait for it to arrive!

I'll install it in the coming weeks and might be able to do a before/after dyno run. We'll see.

It does not come with a relay, and you are correct, it does not come with a thermostat. The thermostats are cheap, though, as they use the old style small block chevy thermostats which are like $5 or so from Napa.

I spent a lot of time doing a lot of detail work to make my install nice and neat, but it came out really nice.

So far, so good. They are rated for a lifespan of about 3000 hours if I'm not mistaken.

I'll take my time and do it right. There'll be shrink tubing and all that good stuff.

Eh, cost/benefit ratio on this one is QUITE slim. But, the latter excuse more than justifies it.

Different strokes for different folks. I actually got mine because it makes my tuning a little easier/more stable.

lol just messen with ya. I saw your thread in the Eastern forum.

With the pump, I got a decent price on it and just happened to have the money.

It will provide a nice benifit if I hot lap the car (rare). The reduced drag will free up around ~7 rwhp/5 rwtq ...(dyno is courtesy of Thunder Racing.)

Makes cooling between dyno runs much faster, too. Slowhawk was almost cursing when he tuned my car with stock cooling system. "We'd be done now if...."

Are you guys actually going to wire it up on a switch? Or are you going to do a 12v source. I have mine on a 12v source so i can still cool mine down without the car on by turning the key on. That way, there's no chance me ever forgetting to turn on the switch. I see much lower temps than with stock, much much better in stop n go traffic.

Mine is wired to a relay, and the relay is triggered by the same wire that triggers the fuel pump to come on (so it is on when the fuel pump is running). I didn't want it draining my battery when I have my key in the on position to upload a new tune to my PCM.

Now here's a question for you guys...those that have them, did you drill holes in the thermostat or not? I actually had issues when I did that (it would never warm up, and if it did get warm sitting in traffic, it would cool down to like 140* driving down the interstate in a matter of minutes).

The installer drilled the holes - but I had him install a 180 rather than a 160 - and yes the cars runs very cool when cruising. Personally I think a 160 is too cool based on what Vincii and others say.

As for the install - make sure to wire tie the wiring harness even if it looks like it won't get into the belts and cut through.

A second installer didn't tie the harness down again and the belts cut through the harness. An EWP isn't much good without electricity.

If I had to do it again - I think $450 + plus labor is better spent elsewhere to gain 5-6 hp - and doubt that much in city driving - at 22-2500 rpm - where the engine rpm spends most of its time.

Being able to cool the car down - however - is nice if you race.

On uploads and downloads - no switch - I just pull the fuse - making sure to plug it back again before starting the car - been there done that.

It goes in tomorrow. I'm going to hook it up so it comes on when with the ignition switch. I like to keep things simple and neat.

I picked up some shrink tubing, colored wire, and a four wire relay. The relay is actually for running headlamps and handles 30 amps. I hope it works lol.

so is an UD pulley. i only gained 2rwhp... so this is the same thing. $100 per 1rwhp.

It's in.

All went smoothly except I had to grind a bit off the bottom of the throttle body's cam. I used the 180 deg thermostat and I did not drill wholes through it. The car is running just a smidgen cooler than when it was stock. I may try a 160 or maybe drill a couple holes in the 180. I may also install a manual override for the fan control.
