Just delete the codes? Or Full Tune?
Hey Guys, I need to ask a few questions. I am installing Kooks longtube headers, Catted Y-Pipe, O2 extensions, SLP LS6 intake, deleting AIR and EGR, new AC Delco Iridium plugs, and MSD wires. Here are my questions...
1. Do you think I should just get the rear O2's, and the codes deleted? Or should i do a full tune?
2. How much do each of them cost usually?
Thanks for looking at this thread. I should be done with these mods around the last week in April, and i have no idea what to do.........Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
James Godair

Just plug your rear 02s back in since you have a catted Y pipe. You will have codes from your EGR and AIR. I did a partial tune on my header install. For $60, the guy turned off the EGR, AIR and rear 02s, even though I put my rear 02s back in the Y-pipe. Plus removed my skip shift, lowered my fan temps and quickly adjusted a few tables with that. He did the same for my friend and messed with his torque management and transmission line pressure (A4) and it helped his shifting a lot.
I would wait for a full tune if you thinking you are doing a cam or heads/cam. I have all the same mods you have and am still driving around on the stock tune. Cam is coming soon. If you are done for at least a couple of years, get the full dyno tune. Prices range from $350 to $500. Depends on where you go.

I would personally do the full tune ~ if your going to stick with those mods for a while.
The headers and intake will affect your air/fuel ratio quite a bit; it's not going to hurt the car to go without ~ you'll just be leaving power on the table and going thru plugs quicker.
But at a cost of around $400.00, another option would be to purchase a tuner (like HP) and do it yourself, for around the same cost. The benifit to this is, if you make any other changes down the road, you can tune it again with no cost.
Good luck !

If you are putting that much money, time and effort into your car, with the parts you have listed......then by all means get a full-on tune! Don't cut corners now this far into the build.
Any good dyno shop & $400 will get you a good dyno tune.
