Default Shorty Headers worth the $$??

Are B&B Shorty Headers worth the $$ (I can get them used for $350) for the HP they give?? I dont want to go through the trouble with long tubes and welding and removing the cats, etc, if they are worth the money for the shorties ill do them cause I am doing heads and a cam soon.

It's a matter of opinion. I would say no. If you're trying to maximize what you can get out of the stock exhaust without modifying the cats or anything then maybe but for $350 I wouldn't do it. You can get a set of long tubes for nearly the same price, you'd have to buy a Y-pipe for it but still.

I agree on the LS1 shorties pretty much aren't worth anything especially when adding heads and a cam. Keep your money and do long tubes or nothing.

Long tubes for a vette run $600 +, most are over a grand, and no y-pipe here man

I spent around $1500 on my Kooks w/ a catted Ypipe. lol $600 would have barely paid for the Y.

I didnt want coated headers, I wanted stainless and I wanted a great fitting set of headers. Kooks does this for me.

Default Kooks

I shopped and looked and read, and eventualy just bit the bullet and bought Kooks LTs. If your gona do it might as well do it right. And actualy for the C5 the Kooks are commprable in price to any other SS headers and X-pipe. I also got HF cats and after it was all said and done, im glad I did because it is LOUD now, with and OR X-pipe it would have been crazy.

from everything I read , and evryone iasked, the ST headers are not worth the install trouble compaired to gains.

Im happy with my choice, but after it was all said and done, the headers x-pipe and HF cats were about $1,600 just in parts.

vette manifolds are better than F-body manifolds.

Without longtubes you are limiting your cam choices, but you can still have a nice H&C combo on stock manifolds.

no you can still have a nice heads and cam on any type of manifold/header but your chocie are limited. for instance youre not gonna put a T-rex on a car with stock manifold but if you go with something like thunder racings "cheater" package that were designed around the stock exhaust you can still have a ncie set up. they made like 394rwhp on stock manifolds cats, and cat-back

Mine are TPIS, and my Cobra had Bassani LT's. Pretty much shortys are a waste of time unless you live somewhere that LT's are not an option. And your almost better off leaving the stock headers on because the gains from shorties are so small.

If you are going to go head/cam you are better off going with longtube headers.
