Default Will a ported Tb help my set up

I have Hooker LTs, 3" ORY pipe, Hooker catback, Thunder Racing 224/112 lsa cam and lid.... Am I losing power by sticking with my stock TB or should I get a ported one? Will it be a SOTP gain?

Thunder sells a ported TB that will work well in your application. I picked up 6rwhp over an ALREADY ported TB by another shop. 8-10rwhp is pretty common.

They sell for $175+core.

I am tight on money so I want my next mod to be noticeable, I am deciding between sub frame connectors or a ported TB?

Ported TBs make 2-3 more hp. Not worth the money to do.

There is a guy very well known for his throttle body porting on ls1.com...his TB's have gained 7-10 hp..proven by dyno sheets.

http://home.att.net/~m.shaner is his web page, he has pics, check him out, better priced than the "big" shops and a better job as far as most people are concerned. Shoot him an email or post up for "shaner" in the texas section os ls1.com. Just go ask anyone over there about his TB jobs...I got mine yesterday and it rocks!

I agree. The throttle body that Mark Shaner did for me is perfect. Very nice work and well worth the money. Costs less than most.

Not worth the money ? Buwahahhahahahaaaah.......
We have some TB`s here in Texas doing consistant*7-10 rwhp as well as knocking 1-2 off ET`s. Nothing else on the market has more bang for the buck on a bolt N roll mod like Shaner`s S2 TB`s.
Yes it`s documented on pull sheets as well as track slips.

look at his web page for pics and prices:
http://home.att.net/~m.shaner

shoot him an email or post on LS1.com under the Texas section and he'll get back to you...email is probobly the best.

He is in the DFW area for the Texas guys here and the non Texas guys....I am sure you and him can work something out on the mail for no down time with the car.

Shoot him an email, you wont regret it.

They certainly help. Check out this quality TB! You won't find a nicer TB anywhere period!

Filling in the open area just smooths out the air flow better before it enters the engine. Less turbulence. Look at the work with/around the throttle blade/shaft. Maybe there's a reason my car traps so high.

If you leave it with the "trap"...that causes a turbulent flow, filling it in and making it smooth makes a laminare flow....in other words the difference is rough flow as opposed to smooth flow. It also redirects more air into the actual engine instead of getting stuck up in that "trap" or pocket.

Very nice!

Is that the same TB that the other guys are talking about?

It looks like the lip in front of the blade is completely gone, wasn't there a reason for that there?

So how does this work? Do we take off our TB and send it to this guy or do we buy one straight out? Or does he send you one and you send him yours back as a core?

I have one of Mark Shaners stage 2 ported TB`s.I gained over a tenth and 2mph.And that was at was at a 1/8 track.Shaner knows what he is doing. He also uses something better than regular epoxy that won`t come loose on his S2 TB`s

Is that the price if you send him the core? Or does he just send you a TB body for that price?

He needs your core...chances are if you email him he will send you one and just wants you to send the core..he understands about having little down time on a car....give him a shout, tell him what you need, he'll work it out with ya.
