According to David Vizard, you need 2.2cfm per horsepower, so at 1000cfm it would become a restriction at 455HP.
I purchased the Dynomax 3" intermediate pipe and over-axle pipe from Napa for $90 and haven't figured out exactly where the muffler is going to go. I was thinking right at the rear bumper, but didn't want it to look ricey. I'd rather use a plain-jane turndown for the V6 look <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
Has anyone done this type of swap? I was also wondering how much weight I might be losing going from the WS-6 style to just the Dynomax.
Thanks,
Mike

Here's a link to my page with pictures of the muffler and .wav files of it revving.

As far as a weight savings, your not going to see a big difference. It is quality gauge metal. If you want to save 7lbs. ditch the trunk cover.
I can't say enough about this muffler. I had a SLP DD, and loud mouth on my 01. The loud mouth was quiet at idle and shook the car apart at partial throttle. The DD was as quiet as the factory set up.
The idle on the DUFW is nice and deep and roars at WOT without any resonnance.
I don't see how you could get better flow, you can see straight through it.
Be sure and coat it with high temp paint for a long life and looks.
Good luck.
<strong>I had that 3 inch dynomax race magnum bullet and swapped it for a Dynomax Ultraflo Welded 3 inch. They both have the same cfm rating (1000+cfm) but the Ultraflo is WAY better in terms of noise control. I have NO resonation with the offroad Ypipe and everything sounds great. WOT is great too.
Hope this helps.

I looked into getting that one to replace my LM "resonator" but it didnt seem like it would fit down there.
<strong>well i have LT headers and no cats and at idle is is pretty damn loud. ove 2500 and it is crazy. at WOT it is "going to jail" loud!!!!!

So, do any of the sponsors sell the dynomax mufflers??
Thanks,
ERic
I am not sure sponsors sell these things, but here is a link to look at.

The muffler I have now is the dynomax Ultraflo welded muffler. Still straight through (can put your arm through it) but is oval shaped like a regular muffler. Great sound control and power.
Cheers,
Chris
ps- I made my own catback very cheaply. Dynomax intermediate pipe for a 93-95 F-bod. Cut off the bend in the intermediate pipe (93-95 had a different cat location) and that part is done. Used the 3 inch ultraflo off of the intermediate pipe in the stock muffler location then bought a single piece 90 degree mandrel bent 3 inch tubing from dynomax and then and chromed three inch tip.
Ran a cutout in the intermediate pipe and I was all done. Total cost was under 200 bucks including installation and there isnt a 3 inch muffler that outflows that dynomax.
Hope this helps,
Chris
