Default SLP Air Temperature Module?

Air Temp Mod

What's the deal with this? I have one from the guy who I bought my Lid from, never heard anything about it. HAs anyone had any bad experience from it?

BTW there are two of them, both have different PN's but seem to be the same thing
The other one

I bought one about a year ago and its been on my car ever since. However, I felt no gains with it and didn't dyno to see (I believe others have and not seen any gain). In short, I wouldn't waist my $ on it.

I got it before i started actually modding my car and all it did was make my car ping like a SOB.
I wouldn't get it...especially since you can do the same thing with a $.50 resistor.

I got it for free, so it's not a big deal

During my quest to increase timing last year I tried a bunch of different things short of programming. One of them was the 4.7kohm resistor in the IAT. When I had it tuned properly I did notice a slight increase in average timing as measured with Atap (in the zero to one degree range). I mainly noticed that the car no longer exhibited what I would call its "day to day" behavior changes - one day it would feel fast and other days it would feel a little sluggish. It appeared that on the warmer or more humid days the timing would be less aggressive, but the tricker reduced this behavior. I was able to make this work without KR to my benefit. I ended up paying the $20 to get the SLP unit simply because I got tired of looking at the resistor and black tape stuck in the IAT connector

Since I run nitrous and sometimes want to retard timing a bit. I used a 6k potentiometer with a 300 ohm resistor wired inline (keeps ohms from going to 0 and possibly damaging comp). I have it wired to my dash with a cool ****. I read the LS1 scanmaster as I turn the **** and watch IAT move up and down selecting where I want to be. Max IAT is 154 degrees and retards timing around 3 degrees under certain circumstances. On the other end I dial it down to 38 IAT degrees and will see a little bump in timing up to 28 degrees advance. It at least provides some measure of control over the ambient circumstances. Im going to put in a 9k pot and 100 ohm inline and see what that gets me. Probably around 180 max and 0 min.
Total cost was about $6 plus an hour of time.

All it does is give the PCM a lower temperature reading from the IAT to make it think that it's getting cold air. You may get some timing from it, but you'll also run pretty damn rich.

When I dyno tested it,I lost 6 RWHP.
It make the computer think AIT's are 32 degrees, advancing the timing slightly.
I would like to track test it w/race gas.I keep forgeting about it though....
