I run an off road y-pipe with dual cut outs. Its quieter in the cab since the exhaust exits the rear of the car. If I want that little extra boost at the track, I uncork it.

ive heard the same set up i have except with an X pipe on 2 other cars and i will say mine sounds alot better WAY deeper.

I didnt mean to open up a can of worms with this, just trying to gather all the info i can before i go chopping all my exhaust off lol. Thanks for the input everyone!!

Chaco hit it right on the head.

X pipe will give you top end power with low tq loss

h is the oposite, lots of low to mid tq, not much gain up top.

I have an H pipe with long tubes and glass packs 18 inches. Car sounds awsome deep and responsive, at redline it screams let me tell you. X pipes are more of a high pitched tone. Its all about what you want. I went with h pipes i like the deep tone of it dumped and the h pipe.

it sounds real good and all jonas - hell it's a lot better than mine, you know that - but nothing beats jmm98LS1's car. his ASA cam sounds cleaner at idle, and his car is very different from ANY other flowmaster single chamber car out there. he has a D-port crossover, and he's the only guy i know of on this site that runs that. it's not quite an H or an X. it's like a hybrid. it gives the depth of the H-pipe with the crispness of an X. it's not racy at all. it's just, well, crisp is the best word to describe it. it's so incredibly clean. i wish i could get my car to sound like that. it's as perfect as these cars get. his car is just perfection. you can't beat that.

i normally don't agree with choco much but i will say jmm98ls1 has the best sounding set up bar-none.
