WS6 exhaust, different?

WS6 exhaust, different? I've always heard that the WS6s had better exhausts than the stock TAs and Formulas. What exactly about them makes them better? They aren't 3" piping are they? So is it basically just a different muffler and different tips? I've never been able to figure this out.
What about a stock SS without any optional exhaust? Does it simply come with the same exhaust as a regular Z28, just with different tips?

Re: WS6 exhaust, different? The stock SS exhaust is the same one the WS6 comes with. As I understand it, it is just the muffler and tips that are different than the stock Z28/Formula/TransAm exhaust with 2 3/4" tubing.
I put a take-off WS6 muffler on my '99 T/A and it got a little louder and deaper. The exhaust on my '01 WS6 is way louder and rumbles much more than my '99 with '99 WS6 take-off muffler. I've been wondering why. The cam? The different exhaust manifolds? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: WS6 exhaust, different? So how can they really claim that these cars make more power? If they are still using a 2.75" exhaust and basically only have a muffler and tip change, that to me doesn't equal more power. And we all know the ram air hood doesn't give more power either.

the WS6 ram air is not effective the way it comes from the factory. BUT...remove the baffles and seal the airbox and then it makes a difference!

Re: WS6 exhaust, different? I agree 100% that removing the baffles is a big diffrence, but how do I seal the air box? I have the MTI clear lid on the car now, but how do I know if the air box is sealed or not??? Thanks..Michael

This kit is supreme in quality, and I HIGHLY recommend it to any WS6 owner. Brian Greene is an excellent guy to deal with, and his product is top notch. It’s been on my car for about a year now and still looks like brand new.

or TIG weld spots on the outside, larger than

the pipe between the muffler and the tips was
-way- undersized. Looked like under a 2" OD.
The exit plumbing on mine is 2.5" on each side.
This package is claimed to give 10HP in the GM
and SLP literature. The fancy SLP OEM lid is
claimed to give another 10HP (the two together
comprise the top-of-the-line "factory" SS
performance package).
Couldn't tell you what reality is, there.
