If you go over the axle you are going to have to go with very small diameter pipe, and it will not be worth it imho. Here is a true dual setup - dumped before the rear axle though.

I can email a picture of my setup, (I don't know how to post it anywhere???)
It's dual 3 inch into an X-pipe, dual 2.5in after the x-pipe and up and over the axle, into a single spintech muffler with dual in/out and stock SLP 2otl tailpipes.
It sounds kickass IMO, and it can't be too restrictive since my 383 LT1 made 451rwhp with it.

Chris, where could I get everything I need to run the exact same setup as you?? What kind of headers are you running? Where did you get the X-pipe? I bet it sounds absolutely awesome!
Is it louder than, say, running headers through an ORY through a cutout? Louder than headers, ORY and a mufflex? Lemme know, cause I like my things loud, and have no emissions laws here in Oklahoma!
Lemme know, thanks pal,
TJ

Here is my true dual setup guys...It is Hooker Lt's, 2 cut-outs (1 on each side directly after the headers, that is damn loud), through and X-pipe (the pics look like crap, but he actually did a good job when you look at it directly), over the axle, through 1 dynomax bullet race muffler on each side, then out an SLP CME exhaust. No cats, & It is all 2.5" with the mufflers being 3". I love it...
Pics Here
BTW, thebadbat, I had all the work you see in the pics done at a local shop here in OK. Just thought I'd let ya know...

joe, that x-pipe is horible, sorry. dr. gas sells one for pretty cheap.
Just so everyone knows, Chris has an LT1. that is not his exhaust. did anyone notice the name Nick Gette up in the address of the page he posted. thats Tranzahm's (sp?) exhaust. its all 3" i believe, some flat pipe on the drivers side, and dynomax race bullets.

Nick has Dynatech stepped headers into a 3in dynatech merge collector then the Dr gas kti(x-pipe and mandrel pieces) two 3 in bullets and dumped just before axel. You can get all of the parts and details on clearancing for this setup through Speed demon motorsports.
It is the best sounding exhaust that i have heard on an f-bod

I looked everywhere on bassani's web site and I couldn't find any mufflers at all!! Maybe I'm an idiot or something.
How does that setup sound compared to other true duals? Can you try to explain it?

lafnatu, the car is basically a weekend driver and never sees rain. LOL
Kaji98Z, The Judge is correct on the muffler. It was purchased from Thunder Racing.
Justin, you like my stock tip effect huh?
BTW, don't worry about the AIR pump. Cleaning out the attic today, I found her old one. Thanks anyway. Lemme know when you will bring the car over for the pump install.

Tim,
That setup looks great. Is that 3" and did you do it yourself? If not I'd be interested in knowing who did cause I think I might have to copy you
