Default stripped O2 sensor...

One of the pre-cat O2 sensors got pretty stripped when I installed my headers, and it won't seat completely. I'm thinking that this is probably what is causing my O2 readings to be so different between the two banks (.870 and .910).
Anyway, does anyone know about how much it will cost to get this fixed? and what exactly will have to be done?

Thanks...
Shane

Try chasing the threads w/a tap that is 18MM. I don't know the pitch but I do know that it can be, 1.0, 1.5 or 2.0 pitch. I chased mine and all is well.

Actually they are 18mm X 1.5
I just got done tapping mine, and installed plugs in the rear O2 bungs. The three most common taps for 18mm will be 1.5, 1.75, and 2.0. Our O2 sensors and I believe spark plugs are 18X1.5. I hope I'm not too late....

No, not too late - thanks for the updated info.

I'm sort of procrastinating on this, as I'm hesitant to take out the sensor and find out that it won't go back in...

thanks,
Shane

Sorry I knew it was a 1.5 or 1.0 pitch, its definitely a 1.5 I thought I used a 1.0 but it was a 1.5.

If you need a whole new bung, you can use
those "spark plug anti-fouling adaptors"
and hack off the male end; the female end
fits (at least, older) O2 sensors just
right. Have used this to add O2 sensors
to some of my older vehicles for tuning
(carb jet selection) purposes. You can
braze or weld them into a slip-fit hole
easily. Want to make sure you have the right
amount of sensor protrusion inside, not too
little (inaccurate) or too much (restrictive).
Match the seated height when you tack it
in for welding.
