LS6 intake - with or without EGR mod?

I am considering buying the LS6 intake to go with my ARE Stage II H/C setup. What are the advantages/disadvantages to buying either model, with or without the EGR mod.

go ahead and get the ls6 factory intake, you know you will have it eventually anyways.

the holley intake is unproven and for a street car, heat will be hurting power.

don't waste your extra cash and time on the intake with the EGR....guaranteed in a short time the seal for the egr that SLP rigged up will break apart and you will have to plug it up or send it back to SLP.....

I had ARE modify mine for the EGR. I did this so I could retain the EGR system for emissions. Probably not a good idea to remove from the PCM as they new EPA testing will test to ensure this part of the PCM is turned on (from what I have read on this board a few months ago).

Just get rid of the EGR entirely, and have someone with LS1 edit get rid of the code. No EGR: one less thing to worry about.

The EGR mod sucks. Im getting custom tuning with my H/C so I will delete the EGR and air pump. I already bought the factory LS6 intake.

I'm with Tom - it appears that the new IM240 tests will detect OBDII tests that are turned off including EGR. I'm not that familiar with them, but we are due to start testing this year here in Washington. I would research beforehand to make sure removing the EGR (even if using LS1Edit to remove codes) will pass if necessary.

Also, LPE has a mod for the EGR costing around $75 - no personal experience with it, but looks more reliable than the SLP thing.
