Default Which muffler to buy? Just a muffler.

exhaust is stock from the motor(headers, cats)

i have the dual dual exhaust on my hawk with a 3 inch cutout already and the cutout sounds fine and i don't want a new cat-back exhaust kit. When it is capped i want it a little louder than the SLP muffler but quieter than the cutout. basically the monday-friday exhaust sound. So with that in mind, which muffler to buy for the car? Flowmaster sounds better on mustangs and LT1's.

Also, if you want something really cheap you can buy a bullet muffler from Dynomax...only about $35.

but how loud would that be on my car? i have heard of people doing that instead of the loudmouth. would you put the bullet in the place where the loudmouth resonator is? also i know there are some long and shorter bullet mufflers.

I had kinda the same feeling you did. I had a magaflow exhaust, but
it was to quiet for me, so what i did was I got a Spintech exhaust, with
the same idea you had of a plate with a smaller hole on the cutout.
With it capped, its sounds smooth and crisp. With the the plate, it
still sounds crisp, but with more of a growl. It sounds great. Let me
know how it goes......best of luck

appreciate the info and help! now i gotta go snag a drill with a heck of a bit to drill through that cutout plate and do a little at a time to see how it sounds. (on, off, drill, on, off, drill, etc.)

Can you buy just the hooker muffler? I have a Random Tech now with 3" pipes same as Hooker. Cheaper than $279 for a new system, nothing wrong with my pipes. Anyone know?
