to remove:
step 1: remove 15 mm oil dipstick hold down bolt
step 2: pull

to reinstall:
step 1: have someone underneath guide you into inserting the dipstick then push down hard
step 2: replace 15 mm oil dipstick hold down bolt

When I had my Kooks LTs installed I told my tech about the problem everyone has with the dipstick tube- he said the secret is to pull the dipstick out halfway to keep it from catching on the bottom, and then have someone below the car guide it back in on reinstall.

I'm a lazy bastard who paid someone to do it, so I can't really give any other advice than that. Sorry.

Ha, I just pulled mine before taking a break to eat. If you cannot get a good grip on it, use a piece of rope to attach to the dispstick tube at the bracket. Then you can really pull on it.

Back to work for me. Stupid passenger manifold bolts.

i agree, after 5 minutes of mine not budging, i wrapped some tie wire around tube at the bracket. put a big wrench in the loop f the tie wire and gave it a yank. popped right out. saw a few posts about 3 hrs to remove and mine came right out after tie wire mod and put a huge smile on my face

kinda rotate the dipstick bracket away from the head, this should break the seal loose then try pulling on it.
when installing I checked the o-ring for cuts/gouges, if good then apply alittle rtv sealant and install. mine hasn't leaked and I'm going on 7k+ on it...

the tube on my 98 would not come out from the top. I managed to get it to move enough that from underneath I could get a screwdriver on the lip of the seal and pound up - then it came out easy.

I had to drop the starter and heat up the oil dipstick tube before it would come out.

With all the trouble the oil dipstick tube gave me, i ended up using anti-seize.

Here's a couple ideas on how to remove it.
