Default Typhoon=Bad??

Okay, I'm lost now. Speed Inc is installing my 382 and they are not impressed to say the least with my 85MM Performance Product Typhoon. They are pushing for me to get the LS6 intake to replace my original LS1 intake. I have seen the dyno comparisons, and have heard guys say they think its a quality piece.

I completely respect Larry at Speed Inc, but I want my car to be done right. So I put it anyone on here that is running one, or who has an EDUCATED opinion on the part. Should I listen to an expert like Larry, or should I give him the green light to install the Typhoon???

If anybody would like to make me an offer, I will sell the Typhoon for $310 with the fuel rails etc. It's in Chicago right now at Speed Inc. I'm sure they can ship it from there without any problems. This is of course if somebody can make a case of the LS6 being better then the Typhoon for any reason.

So give me a thumbs up or thumbs down for the Typhoon VS. LS6.

The jury is still out on this intake. We should hear something soon.

BTW, like your D10's.

I have seen people post issues about fitment of the intake, but other than that i would take the word from the guys at speed inc as they have built plenty of fast cars and probably know better than most other people out there.

I was considering the Typhoon, then after some results, I decided to go with an LS6 and ported TB. Performance is probably similar if you get the 85mm TB as well, and then the polished one has the shiny advantage.

I do not have any dyno numbers on mine, but I'd say it has more power than over the stock ls1 intake. It is a nice piece and they have great customer service.

I hooked a scanner up to mine after I had been driving it and the IAT was 70*. I dont know what it was before, but it was 90* outside when I checked it. So I am thinking it's a non issue also.

It's been installed, the motor should be in the car by wednesday. I'm going to upgrade to a FAST 90/90 sometime later this year or next spring. Meantime I will enjoy my Typhoon....I hope!

For actual dyno numbers, the typhoon lost rwhp on my application. Had nothing to do with heat soak, it was a cold motor on a cool day. See the figures at: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...hlight=typhoon

About 6 months ago I had the LS2 96 MM typhoon intake installed in my car. Gained a honest 13 HP with no problems at all. Intake complete with fuel rails was $525.00. The average gain for the FAST 90 or 92 are around 17.5 HP. So I might have gained 4-5 more HP if I went with the FASt but it would come at twice the price I paid, plus the aluminum intake is much stronger then it's plastic brother. Stronger is better if you are adding nitrous or a turbo set up.
here is a plastic intake after a back fire.
