Default LM 2 Muffler restrictive?

I just got my LM 2 exhaust today. Aside from the fact that Fed-Ex practically destroyed the box it came in and dented one of the tips, I was suprised to see how much the muffler necked down on the inside. Obviously it is a straight-thru design, but I'm concerned that smaller inner diameter is going to restrict exhaust flow eventhough the rest of the exhaust is 3". You guys have any thoughts on this? BTW as of right now the car is on stock manifolds, but I'll probably be going long tubes with a catted Y in the future.

The restriction will be minimal, and is necessary to muffle the sound more effectively than the LM1 resonator. I think that you will like the sound - I have the LM2 on manifolds and an aftermarket Y and it sounds pretty cool. Kinda deep with lots of bass. Not obnoxious, but it will still turn some heads. The LM1 and LM2 both flow well, so I wouldn't concern yourself about it robbing you of any performance. The sound is the most important thing to consider IMO.

You wont have any restriction to worry about. The LM2 muffler flows jst fine. I would be surprised to see any real difference on a dyno between the LM2 bullet and the LM1 hollow resonator. A bullet is one of the most free flowing muffler designs available.

Thanks JohnnyC. I know I hadn't heard anyone complain about the LM2 robbing any power but I just wanted to make sure.
What you described(deep with lots of bass, not obnoxious but still turn some heads) is exactly what I'm going for....can't wait to get it on

thanks also SecretFormula

Nice - you will not be dissapointed. It took mine 300 miles or so to reach it's full volume. It seems to really come alive between 2000 and 3000 RPMs - some kind of resonant frequency or something. It would probably equate to a little drone at that RPM with LT's, but sounds cool with cats and manifolds. I had a little trouble getting the system to lineup and fit properly under my car, but I got it after some trial and error. Overall, I like the sound for a car that I drive to work everyday.

I have it on my dd and with no cats. I get nothing but compliments. If you plan on getting a cam and headers the sounds it simply sex. I love it. Most people will scare you cause the name "Loudmouth" seems to be taboo around here but it sounds really good.

I would never use a 2 1/2" or a 3" y pipe, and bottle neck it into a single straight through muffler with an internal diameter smaller than 2 1/2". Lousy design.

Anyone have a pic of what the inside of the LM2 looks like?

I drive 90 miles or so on the highway 6 days a week with my LM2 w/ LT's and ORY. Doesn't bother me a bit.

I agree...
It has to hurt power, less than 2.5" inside is crap.. .
Now some of the guys posting are running 2 of them with true duals, that's cool... but just one is not cool...

you're not going to notice a difference on a stock car. it's nothing at all to worry about. i wouldn't be concerned about the LM2 muffler unless i was running big cubes - and at that point, a y-pipe setup would be stupid.
