Pwr window intermitent > Bad motor > Easy to fix?

Pwr window intermitent > Bad motor > Easy to fix? This is not external engine related, but I can't see where I would post this.
98 TA -- The driver's side power window is becoming very intermittent. It starts by moving slow, then will stop moving at all (mostly when the window is half way down). If you wait a while, it will start working again. Couple of days later, same thing. I am worried that one day the window is going to stop working altogather. And, it will be my luck that it will be almost full down!
I once read that the motor can be purchased from Autozone for about 60 bucks. Is that true?
Also... How big a job is it to change?

Re: Pwr window intermitent > Bad motor > Easy to fix? I had to replace one in my 94 Formula. The motor is bad. It gets hot and shuts off. They are around $50-60. It'll take a couple of hours to fix it. Not the hardest thing to do on these cars. You have to take the whole track out to replace the motor. There are rivets that need to be drilled out. The motor comes with new hardware. It is also a new motor not a rebuild.

Re: Pwr window intermitent > Bad motor > Easy to fix? Just replaced the drivers side on my 00...got the Autozone motor for ~$75, paid a window place to install it, I wasn't about to ruin my door. What a piece of junk the GM was

Re: Pwr window intermitent > Bad motor > Easy to fix? I've had about 3 window motors go bad in the past two years. Luckily they all have been covered by a warranty. They had the same problems yours are having. I guess I'll be changing to a different brand when I have to fix them.

Re: Pwr window intermitent > Bad motor > Easy to fix? I followed the instructions on Shoebox's website (the link Slick98TA gave), it took me a 30 mins. I just wanted to be sure, before I drilled the three holes.
Re: Pwr window intermitent > Bad motor > Easy to fix? Basically, the motor isn't strong enough to lift that big window. You can replace them but they will all do the same thing. I'm thinking of trying to wire in another type of motor.
