Default Cutout Issues

Bought a new (well, to me) WS6 Trans Am yesterday, and the owner had installed an electric cutout, but not wired it. I'm planning to go true duals, so I don't really need it, but I had to wire it up so I can shut it and pass emissions.

Anyways, long story short, it's my first time wiring anything by myself (I've helped on my dad's 8 sec Grand National quite a bit, but he's away). I got it to work on my first shot, and the cutout closed, although it's leaking a bit. However, I can't get it to open again. It's wired through the ignition in the fuse box. Electrical current is fine, I checked it through the ignition and my ground. Plus the light on the switch comes on. I can hear the motor if I press it to close, but when I press open, not a thing happens. Any ideas?

Also, how can I stop the leak? It's not big, but ehh.

Is it before the cat or behind it. I don't see it causing an issue for emissions unless its before. Some cutouts will not form a good seal and always leak. What kind if is?

It's a QTP cutout. The guy who owned the car had it installed so the exit of the cutout was 23 inches before the rear axle. The issue with emissions is that I need it closed so they can hook up the sniffer to the rear pipes. Don't need them knowing I have a cutout, in case I'm not supposed to. I'm really not sure about emissions laws in Georgia, just moved here.

Yeah, but I don't think they're supposed to hook a sniffer up to a cutout.

Alright well I didn't know you asked that you modified your post after I answered it . But even if there is a slight leak it is fine, exhaust will still go out the tail pipes.I wouldn't spend any money on it if your going to put on duals.

I don't want to spend cash on it, I just want to be able to open it again. Once I pass emissions, I may as well drive around with an open cutout, right?

So anyone have any ideas why the motor will close but not open?

its probably wired wrong. its not a regular on off switch. you have to wire it so that the polarity is switched when the switch is pushed in either direction. i think its called a double pole double throw switch.

After unwrapping the electrical tape on the bottom of the switch, I saw two things. One, you're right. That's the type of switch. Two, the wiring on the switch was bad, and one of the wires was out of the connector. I'm going to go wire it back up and fix it. We'll see if that solves the problem.

EDIT: Fixed it.
