Default Loudmouth with Sweet Thunder muffler

Hey everyone, I was wonder, has anyone tried puttin a sweet thunder chambered muffler inplace of the resonator on their SLP loudmouth exhaust? If so, how does it sound compared to what it sounded like before? And how does the loudmouth compare to a true dual with an x pipe?

I have yet to hear anything better than true duals with an X-pipe. I thought about doing exactly what you are thinking of with my LM.

I tried it. It made the loudmouth sound a lot better. It sounded more refined and less raw sounding. To me the LM sounded like a truck exhaust before. If I had a LM, I would definately replace the resonator for the Sweet Thunder chambered muffler. It also cured some of the droning as well. I'd say it cut it about in half. I've since chang to dual exhaust(x pipe exiting the rear of the car) and I can tell you that it doesn't even compare to the LM. THe duals sound better than any y pipe I've heard. Even my buddy with a 2000 Gt with Flowmasters likes the sound of my car over his. Go figure. Oh yea, sorry I don't have any sound clips of the old LM or my dual exhaust. Good luck

I bought a loudmouth, then installed a bullet to cut some of the rasp which it did. I then bought 2 sweet thunder mufflers and some mandrel stainless steel bends. Had the mufflers welded into the LM to make it look like a GMMG. It cut the raspyness down a lot, but it's still there.
Also the largest internal baffle on the sweet thunder mufflers is 2.5" so I doubt it would be a good idea to put one in the I-pipe since that would neck it down severely.

Stainless works (sponsor) can make you a chambered section with a 3" core to the length of your coice.

I'm guessing that's a new custom muffler they're making, their site only lists chambered mufflers with 2.5" cores?

On the other board there was a guy that dyno'd his car with a chambered muffler in the I-pipe instead of the resonator and lost something like 50 hp with it. (I believe he had headers, as well). I had been considering this for quite awhile and I remember thinking to myself after reading that guys post that I was done considering it.

I have thought about shorter chambered mufflers in the tailpipe though, might work?

50 HORSEPOWER! i could see 5-10 with replacing the resonator with a muffler, but 50?

I believe you're thinking of the Car Chemistry inserts that a few people tried to use to cut down on rasp....and yes one of those in the I-Pipe did cause a member to lose around ~50 hp

Has anyone had problems with fumes coming into the cabin with dumps under the car? Or perhaps problems with the law? From what I hear, Xpipe sounds best like you guys say, but if I have to smell like gas :p

I stand corrected, you guys are right, it was the cc that last the 50 hp. BUT, I'm sure the guy that dyno'd his sweet muffler in the i-pipe lost a lot more then 10 hp. Again, after considering this for more then a year, after reading his post I was settled on SM in I-pipe as a no good idea.

I dont believe the sweet thunder would be a good idea in the I-Pipe either. Now if it was a 3in muffler with a 3 in core, then I would consider. You can get one with a 3in core from Stainless Works. I think the 2.5in sweet thunders and gmmg flow so well out back is because you are splitting one 3in pipe between two 2.5in mufflers.

The 11.6 was when the car was untuned.
Once it was tuned I've been running 10.80s and 10.90s at about a ~3700-3800lb raceweight.
