you need a 3/8" fuel line disconnect tool.

The tool slides under the big silver piece, which then it compresses little fingers inside which allows you to disconnect the two.

Make sure there is no pressure in the lines.

damnit. any way i can fab that tool up with something home made? i understand exactly how it works now becasue i can see in there.

It might be a PITA, but I've heard of someone wrapping a credit card around the line and sliding it up in there.

If you have time, I'd just go get the tool.

It is only like $6 from advance auto.
