Default How much for a LS1 crate motor?

New guy here thinking about an LS1 conversion for my '73 vette. A local chev dealer here in AZ has a few LS1 crate motor long blocks in stock for sale @ $2,999.00. Is that a good price? What will I need to complete if for the conversion; intake, pulleys, flywheel, etc. and apprx cost to complete it?

I plan to go with a T-56 6spd.

Thanks in advance,
Carl

You'll found more help about the conversion in LS1 Engines in Non-LS1 Vehicles section.

The cost it's depend on USED or NEW and on all what you need for complete conversion. if you really serious so go ahead and start your business. explore the costs by your self

$2.999.00 for long block it's very cheap!! what's the specs of that engine?? which company??

if you are looking for a bone stock LS1 346ci small block brand new from GM, you are gonna pay some big bucks! I called a local dealer in Orlando and believe it or not, they told me just the motor was 11K, no ****, and that is just the motor,it takes two weeks to get shipped from GM, since they dont make the LS1 anymore, they make them as you order and the price is painfull, make some phonecalls, you might as well get an LS7 for couple of more thousand, then you'll have something!

A complete new LS1 engine, including everything but the computer, is $4900.

A complete new LS6 engine, again with everything except the computer, is $6300.

A complete new LS6 long block, pan to valve covers but no intakes, injectors, throttle body, exhaust manifolds, etc., is $4900.

New LS1 shortblocks for $3000 is a fair deal, nothing spectacular. You should be able to buy a complete LS1 with under 40k miles for that. If more funds are available, I would buy one of the complete engines listed above. All the "little things" add up in a HURRY. If you are doing a swap you will need all that stuff anyways, better to just buy it all at once, factory new.
