Got my headers on and she's ready to go. I took her for a drive and it was fine for the first minute or so. Then I was sitting idle for a few more minutes and the whole car started shaking terribly. When I started giving it gas (as I started moving) it got better, but a few seconds later it started bogging down real bad. To just drive normally, I had to give it half throttle. Every few seconds it was like something "clicked" on and I started to take off (like normal 1/2 throttle). Then it would bog down again.

I checked the plugs and wires thinking it was misfiring or I burnt up a wire, but they were fine. Is it running lean or what? It's an 02 LS1 A4, the headers are pacesetter LTs with the ORY. No other mods.

 

do you have your oxygen sensors unplugged?

 

might also be a bad ground

Did you extend your front O2's to the bungs on the headers and put sims on your back O2's? It sounds like you didn't do one of those.

okie dokie....did you make sure your front o2 wires werent on/near the block or collector?

 

plug in the front o2's. You can leave the rear's unplugged, but with an SES light.

 

Did you crack a spark plug when installing the headers?

EDIT: N/M, I reread your post..you said you checked them.

 

I'd say check o2's if its not those I'm not sure. it definitely sounds like a computer thing not an actual malfunction of any parts or anything

 

if it ran fine at first I would say you melted the wires for the 02's. check and make sure the wires arnt touching the headers.

The O2s were plugged in. I took the rear ones out though. After I drove it a bit more, it started running nice and smooth. I put 50 miles on it to be sure and it has run flawlessly since I posted this. Is it possible the sensors just had to calibrate to the new setup? I have no issues with it at all now. Thanks for the help everyone.

Mine started shaking and "loping" like it was cam'd...installer forgot to plug in one of the coil packs lol.

 

Make sure that the O2 wires are not too close to the headers. I had that problem.

 

Well, it started doing it again today. Seems if I sit idle for more than 5 minutes or so, it starts it up again. Someone mentioned something about O2 simulators. What are they? Where do I get them? And is it something that would fix this problem?

 

You have to have your REAR O2's either tuned out or install sims on them.

Rear O2's have no effect on engine performance.

 

If it only does it after idling for a while it may be temperature related, b/c the engine will run hotter sitting still. Maybe you damaged the coolant temperature sensor or the wires to it. It is located close to the front of the header flange on the side of the head, and could easily be damaged. If it's messed up it will affect air fuel ratio at part throttle causing the engine to bog or stumble.

 

I tuned out the rears. Also checked the fuel tables, the front passenger O2 is dead. Bought a new one, problem solved. Thanks guys.
