Kind of a stupid question.. I took off my stock SLP dual/dual exhaust(atleast I think it was stock) in trade for an SLP Loudmouth.
My question is...do our cars come with 2 catalytic converters stock? When a mechanic was looking at my car the other day they said "someone musta took off the cat.." I was like "huh? I thought these were the cats" and he said "No those are restrictors... I was like "hmm"
So is this guy right? if so does anyone have any pics underneath their cars of what theirs look like to see if mine was actually stock or not? The cats should be all the way in the front of the car shouldn't they?
It's sad that i'm totally confused about this, never seen the underneath of a stock F-body before though, when I bought my 3rd gen, the exhaust was already done.

what are restrictors and who in their right mind would want them on their car????

Two cats stock. I would just tell that guy politely to take my car off the lift now. Once it's down safely tell him you changed your mind and gonna leave everything the way it is then go someplace else that knows what the hell they are talking about.

I just saved myself the trouble and took all the emissions crap out of the equation. It is sad that all the stuff used to save the environment is what fails all the time on cars.
The guy may have been pulling your leg and giving you a way out. He might have been offering to take the second set of cats off for you and just did not want to come out and say that straight up. I would have asked him if it was okay to remove those "RESTRICTORS" as he called them and then see what he did.
