Iridium spark plugs

Iridium spark plugs
I went to my local speed shop yesterday to pick up some stuff for a tune-up. After I told the guy I already had some plugs and that they were iridium, he said that they were trash and that copper works best!!
I told him that the main reason I got the AC Delco Iridiums was that I didn't want to change plugs evey year (plus I found a deal).
He said that "you can't do any high performance stuff with those plugs because the iridium has too high of a resistance".
WTF!?!?!?

Iridium does have a higher resistance than copper, but I dunno about the statement of "you can't do any high performance stuff with those plugs because the iridium has too high of a resistance". I think he was just trying to sell you some new plugs. I personally use the copper TR55's because they are cheap!

Then whats the big deal with platinum & double platinum & even triple throw down platinum plugs not to mention iridium plugs.
If plain ole NGK split plugs are so good why does GM put DENSO made iridium plugs in the Z06 ?

It's my understanding platinum and iridium plugs run hotter and will contribute to detonation, especially in FI applications. Because they run hotter they can keep themselves cleaner, thereby lessening the frequency of changing them, but like I said, because they run hotter they tend to preignite the air-fuel charge.
If you're only a bolt-on car, I'm sure you'd be fine. On an FI car, perhaps some TR6s are in order.

I there something that can be done (if necessary)with tuning when using these plugs?
If they "make more power" then fine. Even if they didn't, the main reason I use(d) them is for the fact that you don't have to change them as often.
Plus, like you guys say, the ZO6 comes with these "junk" plugs from the factory. I think even my girl came from the factory with the platinum ones.
Whatever.
