Well the motor has ARE heads, and IIRC, the cam that was in it had a base circle smaller than the one he put in.

They told me that the heads were from ARE who have been split up for almsot 6 years now. They told me the springs are cmp 918's and I contacted chris Mays and found out that the springs have to be at elast 4 years old because they have no blue stripe.

The pushrods say Thunder racing chromeoly 7.350. Speed inc also said it has an SLP oil pump and double roller timing set. I added the ARP rod bolts.

The cam the guy before me had in it was a comp 224/228 .581/.588 on a 114lsa and base circle was the stock size. I upgraded to a 228R which has a smaller base circle. So by this guy using a 7.350 PR it made me think that the heads were milled.

***I've tried calling and e-mailing AutoWorx which is now what ARE used to be, and asked about the heads but never got any replies or even a call back.

Then I would assume you would need longer ones this go around. However, seriously buy a pushrod length checker. You obviously can't rely on what other people have said is or is not on there.

K let me ask yall this. Can I take a felt tip marker and color in the tip of the valve and put my pushrods in, and then my rockers, turn the motor over a few times by hand and look at the sweep pattern to tell if its to long short, or just right?

Charle, I know you are frustrated but keep your cool and think about that.
You wanna use a marker to see a swipe pattern and see if your Pr's are longer or shorter?
That doesn't even sound like you bro!
Just get the checker and save yourself some added aggravation and save those Ti valves of yours!
Just my .02 cents BRO!

oh teddy has one so that isnt a problem. I jsut remember seeing that in a sticky to see the wipe pattern. Kind of a no cost way of seeing if something is way off to begin with. I didnt read all of it, so maybe it was for something else, jsut throwing it out there,

So please, educate this youngin'!

Well when I talked to you the other day and we talked about the cam, did ya get all that lined up? I really think that was the problem, the TDC thing. But if you have a length checker at your disposal, then dont hesitate to use it. When the insurance is cheap, take as much as you can.

Also, I know that Ive seen around here where people use different length pushrods to help quiet up valvetrain noise, so I suppose maybe thats a possibility. I dunno.

I can get the checker no problem. However teddy would still like us to get that bottom sprocket off to make sure tis set on 0 advance and retard jsut to be sure. I guess better safe than sorry, but im def gonna check the PR length.

1st make sure you have the lower sprocket 0* advance.
2nd check the push rod length with the checker

I had a rollmaster double roller for a little while. I can't remember what was 0* advance. For some reason the square is sticking out in my memory.

Dude dont bother with that place at ALL. They have been permanently banned from here for good reason. As for the marker trick for push rod length??? That only works on adjustable seat position rockers like sbc's but LS1's utilize a fixed saddle seat. The marker trick does nothing for you here its a complete waste of time. Regardless of pushrod length on an LS1 the swipe pattern will be the same because the rocker arm seats in the same spot and will always give you the same swipe pattern.

You need an adjustable push rod length checker to verify length. Cheap. Easy. sellable. DO IT. And yes get the copper spray too

Like I said, Teddy has one so I'll use it. The copper spray, ehh I'll elt him give the final word on it, if he feels it wont need it then im not gonna bother.

However the marker thing, hey jsut saw it in a sticky and I thought id throw it uot there and I learned something

You're kidding, right? Look up threads on this. People do this on LS1's. The wipe on the valve will most certainly not always be the same by using different length PR's.

Regardless, all you need is to check PR length. Do that now.

maybe you should stop spending money and time on your car, and actually take care of yourself for a change...

sadly, this is one of my personal regrets.
