Default Cold air vs. lid only

im pretty new here but I just wanted to know what setups you guys are using for your intakes..... and what kind of results you've gotten

i bought an SLP cold air package..... i noticed a slight difference in hp and the tone of the intake is alot deeper...

the cai setups seem to be pretty expensive... just wondering how many people actually have them.... SO VOTE

p.s. hope there isnt a sticky on this

i voted CAI...but after reading the thread a bit more...i would probably revise my vote.

a basic cai for the ls1 is not much of an improvement. however something like the SSRA setup, which is still a cai at slower speeds...shows great gains. and that was what i was thinking when i voted.

Per my reading comprehension, I think that is the question. LS1s don't have CAIs, do they? Just lids and the SSRA-type intakes.

There is a large diffence between the SLP cold air kit and our FTRA ram air kit. It's typically 1-1.5 MPH in the quarter mile.

Take a look at the review:

http://www.installuniversity.com/ins..._12.262000.htm

These were gains in only the 1/8 mile. 1/4 mile gains are even better since the car is travelling at much higher speeds.

the power to cost ratio of a ram air system is much better than that of a lid+filter...just spend the extra money and get ram air...couldn't be happier with the results myself

Agreed but the ram air kit is still dependent on having a free flowing air lid for the best power. Get both

got a lid and filter now... not too thrilled about the sealing... as i've noticed just about every lid/filter setup has sealing issues... i'm really starting to lean towards picking up a Volant intake for the sake of solid sealing...

Lid and filter only here. I have a WS6 and have the baffles removed from my hood. I plan to seal the front of the lower air box to my hood one day.

I worked on a car with the SLP cold air thing & took it off. I believe the free ram air is more free flowing than sticking that metal duct in there.

The IAT's were the same at cruise.

Try the FTRA instead. It will significantly lower your IATS and add substantial power. Typically it is worth 1-1.5MPH in the quarter mile

They are on sale right now for 152.99
