Grind the ribs off the bottom (of the ls6) where the old lines went and just re-use the old line.

1x 2001+ front coolant pipe - #12568478
2x 2001+ rear coolant plugs - #12562788

You can find these on E*ay for aroud 45 bucks for a set. Trust me, you WONT find them any cheaper than that new. I tried. Every once in a while you'll find them in the F/S section for 20-30 bucks.

Also, once you get the new front line and the rear plugs, you will need to install the front line then gently tap it down a bit so the FAST will clear it. Otherwise it will sit on the coolant line and won't come down all the way to the head surface.

Here is the parts before installation:

Do you have the new valley bolts installed? If not then make sure you put those in first.

I got my plugs at the dealership and they refered to the coolant plugs as "Covers" when I told them the 12562788 part number. I thought the part number had changed, but had the parts guy print out the diagram and it was indeed the rear coolant plugs, they were just calling it something different in the computer.

I'm confused.... your thread title says F.A.S.T. intake conversion, but you are asking about an ls6 intake. The ls6 intake doesn't need the crossover lines as stated above, as you can just sand off the casting ribs from the bottom of the intake and it will install no problem.

I wouldn't start hacking up a $350 LS6 intake.

Just do it right and get the correct coolant lines, that way if you ever upgraded to a FAST in the future you would be set because you HAVE to use the LS6 lines for the FAST.

+1 on the no hacking.

My SLP LS6 came with all the coolant pipes, block offs for the back,,i have ran it for a year now and never had any problems,,,and no hacking involved.

Geeze people they are simply casting ridges and take a whole 30 seconds to sand flat. If you want to **** away $40 for something that is easy as pie to do, then go right ahead.

Um another option you could do is mod your stock lines. I took the stock coolant lines off the car. Cut it to look like the front crossover and cut the back 2 lines off maybe 3/4 of an inch before each bolt and coolant hole. Then simple walk the aluminum to a vise and pinch the hell out of the little bit of line that was left. I then took it another step and coated the lines in JB weld as well just to make sure. And I garuntee there is no chance they will leak. If you know someone who welds you could simply just pinch themand then weld them as well real quick. This is way i went when installing my Wieand Intake and its worked flawlessly and i think cost me 2 bucks for the JB weld.

Ahhhhhh, the stuff F-body guys come up with.. If it can be hacked, welded, glued, or assembled using 3 dollar tupperware, an F-Body guy will figure out how to do it...

i dont know that id consider this ghetto rigging...
you cant really even see the lines for one thing, and people have had a few problems with cooling the rear cylinders with the ls6 plugs, if you had two pipes that would be different, now im not totally sure if that is the entire cause, but there is a correlation,
and look at it this way, when you say hacking up, arent we all doing that to some degree, chevy or pontiac gave us cars and we modify (hack up) to make them faster ar better looking, we just try to be as clean as possible, I dont think grinding some nonintegral plastic off the bottom of an intake can be considered THAT bad...
