Default FAST or not?

I've searched and read and have came up with mixed emotions. I can get my hands on a FAST 90/NW 90 for $850, which seems like a good deal to me. Right now I have an LS6/ported TB with AFR 205's and F13. I would also like to clean the ports up on the FAST 90 to get a little more out of the intake. I've read that people have had a few problems with the FAST leaking, any word on this? Also are they really worth it over an LS6 on a stock block 346? I can still run my stock MAF, bellow and lid correct? What would you guys do?

Upgrade for sure. Can't say that I have read about any leakage issues, unless it was an install error. I used the orange gaskets on the ports and have had no issues whatsoever. H/C car will see around 15-20 HP for sure, maybe a few more if you port it.

From dyno testing a FAST pushes about 10-15rwhp or 15-20rwhp (ported) more than a LS6 on a mostly stock 346. I would say you could use the $850 on other things but to each their own. The FAST gains get significant with N20, FI, or big cams. For me an LS6 will be just fine because I never plan on having a big cam on there, which is the only case in which I would use it. (400+rwhp applications)

You can still run your stock MAF and lid, but for a bellow you would need something that could go from your 90mm TB to your 78mm MAF. Something like a reducer, thats why most go with the 85mm MAF and 85mm Lid.

I would keep the LS6 unless your looking to get serious and push as much as you can past 400rwhp or have a 500rwhp goal.

OR if you have plenty of money to do it, buy it, they looks really cool and its the best manifold you can buy. BTW I have never heard leak issues.

I just switched to a FAST 90 and a Nick Williams and can tell quite a bit of difference in it espeial on top end and I also have the F13 cam from Futral and love it. I think my car needs more Injector so I am going to upgrade to Racetronix 42lb soon and take and touch the tune up. Good Luck

Thanks guys.

I thought I read a while back when they first came out that people were having problems with them sealing, maybe not. I have read thought that over the LS6, the FAST 90/90 picked up about 20hp, which seems like a pretty big jump OVER the LS6. Where could I get a bellow to work with the 90mm TB?

As long as its installed correctly with the correct hardware, there will be no leaking issues. You will gain over your current set up and your basically buying the intake and getting the TB for free. Which BTW is a very good TB.

Ive seen people not use stock bolts and have cracked the bottom. Due to the height of the bolt.

I know a guy in my area that picked-up somewhere around 15-20 more RWHP by adding the 90/90 to his MS3d' car. I don't know if it was ported but know he gained a good amount over the LS6 that was originally on there.

You MUST use the valley bolts supplied with the intake in order for it to sit low enough. They are just hex headed cap screw bolts that you could probably pick up at any bolt shop. As far as intake bolts, I know it comes with its own, but don't know if you can run the stockers or not, as I used the bolts supplied.

OOPS! You also need the LS6 coolant lines or will have to cut and braze ls1 lines.

No leaks here with my FAST 90/NW 90.

I would suggest buying the stainless bolt kit from Thunder Racing, the ones you get from FAST rust very quickly even if you take care of them.

Speaking of the intake bolts or the valley bolts?

I wasn't aware of different intake bolts needed for the FAST. I'm guessing the guy selling me this one has the bolts because he bought the intake new.

The FAST comes with new intake and valley bolts.

The intake bolts rust out of nowhere. Thunder racing sells a stainless kit, its expensive but worth it IMO.
