Default hooker headers hitting steering arm???

I dont know what to do..I called hooker & swapped them out & the next set looks & fit the same as the first set did..undo steering arm & install drivers side header & the steering arm needs about an inch before it will hook back up...so headers should be fine..Its at the frame shop now & they said no problem with the frame & has never had any kind of damage to the frame at all & no more adjustment in the rack & pinion setup so what gives?? Ive got a car with head & cam swap & new LT hookers & cant move it cause steering arm hits..anyone have any ideas??
Thanks,Brian

The steering shaft can be moved some, but an inch? I don't know. Up on the fire wall where it passes through there are 3 sheet metal screw, remove them, push the shaft assembly outboard, drill new holes, but in new sheet metal screws to hold in in the new position.

I have the same problem with my TTS headers. Sent them back and they are fine and fit the jig on the money. So I am having them push the tube over a little and I will try to move my steering knuckle so it doesn't rub it anymore. Your not the only one.

You can move the shaft a little bit and you can also dent the header tube in a little. Maybe shave the bolt that's in the way?

I had the same problem with my KOOKS headers, I talked to madman and he said to loosen the 3 bolts holding the columt to the firewall, pry the header away and tighten them up at the same time. worked perfect for me!

Ok I got it up on jack stands & absolutely no way will it fit..emaild hooker..(WOW what help they are) I put a jack under oil pan & raised engine slightly..all it could anyways & then installed steering shaft on rack& pinion first then with steering colum all lose & unbolted hooked steering shaft to it thenbolted steering colum back in completely..was still hitting but I got it in finally..then let motor down & its really on the header hard..wont hardly turn the wheel..hooker said I might have a bad motor mount..with jack under it raising to highest hight it still hits motor down it is on it good..since hooker is so much dang help I guess Ill have to rely on the best person to fix it..ME..pay 450 for a set of headers & they have plenty of room to be bent back out of the way & all there money & test fitting & they cant get it right..Ill heat & bend them myself I guess..at least car idles good & sounds awesome...again my car has never been wrecked & this is the 2nd set of headers & steering colum is adjusted all the over as far as it can be & there header fit sucks..oh well they are a big company..im sure my commenets wont ever hurt any...bad thing id still buy from them again cause 50% was done right I think,,tey look & sound good..thanks for all your help & ideas guys..

Yeah I'm in the same boat as Mike~! I was planning on Hooker LTs and after hearing about this i'm having serious doubts ... I want to know if you could get your money back or shortys or something!!

I don't want a header problem like that to turn my car into a big expensive stereo

I dont think its a total big deal to figure out..main thing is its not a put o & drive product(with me anyways)paying that much for a freaking set of headers they should fit...period !!!
main thing is to raise the motor while installing them..you can either raise as much as you can & remove steering colum or remove alternator to get to motor mount bolt & raise engine further to make it easier..after installing & everything hopefully yours will fit where mine didnt but at worst if it didnt I send it to a mechanic shop or muffler shop & get someone to heat the tube cherry red & then put a lil bend in it like hooker should have..maybe I should fill out an application in research & development for hooker..
Ill keep ya posted as to how mine does turn out..gonna try & heat it up sunday or monday
