Almost the same, but I just yanked a pair of TTS headers off my car I bought back in '01 or '02 for some ARH's. I remember buying them because I didn't like the SLP's, couldn't find Grotts hardly anywhere, and the FLPs were known to leak. That was all that was out back then. They're still in decent shape with rust at the collectors and someone else will probably be using them.

I bought mine directly from Rodger the DODGER Grotyohann himself back in 2000. I still have them on my 1999 SS as I modded the car 9 months after I bought it brand new.

We had a customer with a 2001 Z06 come in a few months back for a ls7 swap with a set on this car. They looked like poo.

I found a place in Nashville that can strip them and re-coat them with a 1300 degree coating. It will take a couple of weeks to get them done, but they should be almost like new again once done.

I was surprised to see that the air/egr fittings were actually in pretty good shape.

I remember hearing the story about the "hole" install. I ran you a few times back in the day at Desoto now BMP. I sold my old car and have moved on to another that is "lightly" modded. Just recoat them and they will be better than new!

Default They're Back!

The shop finished up a week early and they did an fantastic job. Nothing can be done about the pitting but the finish in great. The lower primaries and collectors still pitted, but the upper (what can be seen from the top with the hood open) looks better than new.

The pictures do not do the finish justice. They are way more brilliant than the pics show, almost like chrome.

To me this was $250 well spent. No way I was putting thos nasty looking things on this

Yes, I'm picture happy today

Pharcyde50 - My wife would love nothing more than to forget about that hole in the front yard What kind of car did you have?

Pewter 2000 M6 Z28, had to sell it though to buy a house. Now I've got a black 2000 WS6 that gets driven occasionally. Nice motor pic too, I spun a bearing about 2 years ago and stepped up to a forged LQ4.

Oh man. Had a pair on my 98 Z. They had a 2 bolt ball and socket flange on them that I wasnt sure if it came that way or not. I had them on that car for three years and the guy I got them off of said he had them on his car for five or six. The EGR and AIR fittings were cut off an welded up. They did make good power but were starting to look really haggard there in the end.

1MADSS...who did your headers? My GRotts are looking about the same down by the collectors and I really don't want to buy new ones for $700-$1000.00. My GRotts came with slip fit collectors and Rapid Motorsports welded on 3 bolt flanges when the 3 " Random Tech cats were yanked off.

I bought mine in, hmm, 2000 I think direct from Roger. I had to trash mine maybe 1-2 years ago. The EGR tube blew out within a couple of years, and the center of the collectors blew out a few years later. Swapped them out for ARH's and lost a little power.

Old thread..wow.

My 1 7/8" Grots have been on my 427ci since May 2002 when the engine went in. They're still in perfect condition and still look brand new everywhere. Except of course for a few bottom-out scrapes on speed bumps.

FYI...........Roger had his LT's made at a place called Tubular Performance. QTP also has (or at least had) used the same exact place to make their LT's....on the same exact jig at Tubular Performance after Roger quit making and selling them. My set were accidentally sold while I was waiting for my engine to get done. I had to do the research and track down Roger (the scumbag) to find out where he had his LT's made so I can get a set. I found Tubular Performance. I spoke with them. I asked them to make me a set. They agreed, but only if I sent them the cash...WHY? Because along with a list of other people Roger owed money to, he also owed them alot of money. So I got my set of Grots directly from them. It may have been the last set of Grots ever made....but QTP's are the same damn thing.

And I'm going to do it one last time before I sell these off. Last time, I promise.

I moved up to Kooks 1 7/8 last week and laying side by side they do look very similar. I guess putting up with Roger in the early days was worth it to get a good header back then. Now there are so many choices.

Thumbs up Nearly Ten Years and Going Strong

Crazy to see this thread, as i just returned from the shop after discussing the swap to true duals later this month.

I dug out my invoice when I got home...May 2001 from Thunder Racing. I recall them being hard to get as well...Thunder posted they had received six sets and I was able to get the fifth of that batch.

Sean at Fas-Tech in Dallas did the install and left the Y-pipe dumped without hooking up to my Borla and I had a five-hour drive back to Midland with open headers. Got that taken care of within the week and, aside from a very minor amount of rust on the passenger side collector, they are still in excellent shape. Car has never seen rain or snow so I imagine it may be a different story were it a daily driver. Keepin' 'em on for the swap to duals

I've had my SLP LT's in since about 2004. Smashed a primary and a collector, but they still work.
