What do you guys think? This is going on a 2000 Firehawk, w/ 4.10's and a cutout. I hope I'm not missing anything vital for the install...Most of the tools I'm going to borrow from AutoZone.

Damn, I posted in the wrong section. If a mod sees this, please move to Gen III Internal engine. Sorry about that.

I'm in the same exact spot as you, gearing up for a cam install. I am also comiling a parts list.

Looks like the oil pump you spec'd is for an SBC/LT1 ( http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=6&pcid=83 ), not an LSx.

Do you want this instead:

http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=3&pcid=83

Do you also need (?):

Cam retainer Bolt ( not sure if this comes in the CAMPK-PG):
http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...id=17&pcid=157
113-134-1002
$7.49

Are you going to do an UD pulley at the same time as the cam? I plan to since it will be off. Note: since I have a CTS-V, I need to use the Corvette kit.

ASP Harmonic Balancer w/ ARP bolts
http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=642&catid=16
NOTE: Choose optional Pulley Bolt - ARP ($27.99)
19-941020
$273.98

I'm also going to do injectors since I am at 92% IDC right now (380 rwhp, ls6 w/ all boltons except EWP & UD Pulley, will probabaly be up to 420+ish w/cam, so I'll need that injector, when runniong 5000+ rpm for 30 minutes at a time on the road course). Thinking about the Ford Racing flow matched SVO red tops:

Ford Motorsports 30# Flow matched Fuel injectors
http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=222&catid=10
20-M9593B302F
$399.99

I'm probabaly also going to do some rockers, since my car has 60k miles, and I do 6ish HPDE's / year, which is pretty hard on the car.

Yella Terra Ultralite rockers
http://www.mphparts.com/mm5/merchant...Code=GTOLS1VLV
113-6645
$419.99

I didn't check on the sponsor status of the vendors I posted above, so mods please snip away if needed.

I'd appreciate some feedback as well. I don't want to overlook anything.

CLO-9-3159A

The guy at TR gave me the wrong part number for the oil pump! Thanks for the catch guys, I called and correct that.

Yes, it's the ls2. And really that is enough for this cam (according to Dave at TR).

I also asked about the longer crankshaft pulley bolt, and he said I didn't need that. Is that what you're talking about trukk?

I'm also just doing the basic cam swap and I don't have the money to go with an UD pulley and other things that I wish I could. I figure this will bump up to close to 390rwhp and sound like an ls1 should.

Also, I'm glad I called back because they told me they wouldn't be able to get my headers/y-pipe in by xmas, so I went ahead and canceled that. I'll see if I can get it from Summit.

get the ls2 chain unless you want to be able to change your timing by way of the chain. do you drive your car at all in the snow? because those painted longtubes will not last.

Wow, just called summit they matched the prices that Thunder Racing had for the headers and y-pipe AND gave me free shipping on the headers AND they're shipping out tonight. Summit rocks! I just hope TR comes through with all the other parts. They seemed to be a little scattered. Like the Patriot Gold Valvesprings he said should be there in week. I just hope that a week doesn't turn into a month...Crossing fingers...

Rarely. I try to keep it covered. I'm in college so I don't have to drive unless and emergency arises. Is there anything I can do that will help prolong the life of the headers (besides not driving in the snow/rain)?

Instead of spending the money for the Hooker "name", I would have gotten Pacesetters ceramic coated.

Congrats on the parts order though, I remember how excited I was while I waited for the UPS truck to arrive

sweet, I just recently ordered my cam from thunder as well and the dual extremes are on back order as well, but I was told they should be in by the time the cam gets back from being ground. So about a week or two :crosses fingers:

Yes, the LT choice was poor. However, spraying a few coats of VHT Flameproof Coating or wrapping them up will inexpensively prolong their life. I still recommend rarely, if ever, driving them in moist weather.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and get the Crane valve spring tool. It is available on the TR site. Its a lifesaver, changing the valve springs was by far the worst part about my cam install. Some other things you will want are red loc-tite, front timing cover gasket, and something to keep the lifters help up while the cam is out. If they fall down while the cam is out you are in a world of hurt and will be pulling the heads. TR also has those, but I have seen people use wooden dowel rods. I bought the tools from TR, they work VERY WELL. Just do your research before you get started and you should be fine. Pay special attention to the o-ring on the oil pump pickup tube. A lot of times it does not seat correctly and causes air to be sucked into the oil. You will get a nasty tapping from the lifters, happened to me and I had to go back in and re-do that o-ring.
