Changing Cat's to o/r pipes question

I'm changing my stock Cat's to off road pipes w/ 02 sims. Just wanted to know any tips to make the change easier. The car is a 02 Z28 M6 w/ lid, and flowmaster exhaust. Thanks.

Spray down the manifold to cat studs with some PB Blaster or something to loosen them up. They break easy. Also, have plenty of ratchet extensions ready. And use new gaskets, the stockers will most likely break apart if you've got more than a few thousand miles on the car.

It's really a pretty strait forward job.

Looking for loudness, just add a cutout before the muffler and you are done. I have a cutout in the intermediate pipe just before the axle on my stock 00 WS6. The WS6 still has a full stock exhaust including manifolds and cats. With the cutout and the cats still on I think the car sounds good. I personally don't care for the sound of stock manifolds and no cats and a cutout, but it may sound good with a good catback.

I broke off my cat bolts when I took them off but they still came off. You may need to have some extra bolts handy just in case cause they may/probably will break.
