Speed Inc is even selling Chris' system now, I doubt they would recommend it if it didn't work.
Like I said, do some research. Look in the drag racing section too, lots of ram air posts in there, do a search.

Awsome work Chirs, one of your kits is definately going to find it's way on my car in the spring when Larry and the guys at Speed Inc get a hold of my ride. My cam only PB is 11.23@121.70 w/ a 1.56 60' and hopefully with the help of your kit, a little more weigh reduction, and some suspension tweaking I can break into the 10s.

yeah i went with the ssra setup out of laziness and combined it with sealing the airbox completely & was impressed with the SOTP impression it made. Throttle response improved & top gear pulls pulled harder. The back of my slp lid was also exposed before sealing it with weatherstripping.
There aint much airflow from the factory opening at the bottom of the airbox. This way seems to be the true ram air setup. Coolant temps didnt appear to change much with a scanguage.

this ram air has gained 1.5mph on a stock internal car
my non ac ram air on a cam only car showed a gain of 2.7 mph...
as for the cooling issues I have never had a problem with my car 180 all day...but I do have a 160 stat and have the fans come on sooner...

Ok, I bought the Chrs1313 ram air from speed inc. My question is, does it have to be bent to fit in the lower airbox? Speed Inc's site shows it pre-bent, however mine it straight to the top.

It seems the general consensus is FTRA<SSRA<Chrs1313.
Since I tore a perfectly good A/C system out of my 87 at the tender age of 18, I've decided, in my old age, to keep it fully functional in the Z28. Therefore, it's prolly not worth the upgrade...
Whichever unit you go with, just take the extra time to seal everything together. well worth the effort in both power and throttle response, as mentioned before.
