Question Y pipe banging

How many of you with longtubes and a y-pipe set up have the issue with it banging under the car. If you dont have it did you do motor mounts to cure it or just no problems with it? For all what is your setup(brand lt's, y-pipe, and catback). thanks guys.

edit: another question r u m6 or a4 and could this make a difference?

I have pacesetter long tubes with a catted TSP y piped. The banging was driving me insane... to solve it I just shoved a handful of bronze wool in between the floor board and y pipe... hasn't banged once since =D

Mine only bangs on hard launches from a dig but I think its mainly because of a broken motor mount.

I have kooks LT's w a custom Y w dynomax bullets. The Y-pipe bangs on hard accelerations and sometimes when I'm turning into a parking lot or something. I've been meaning to shove something in between the Y and floorboard. will poly motor mounts fix the banging? maybe I'll have to get some.

xs y-pipe bangs. The Y pipe is a piece of junk. I'm going to fix it with a custom y-pipe with a flowmaster merge.

My QTP Y-pipe banged. I had SLP SFCs under the car which made aligning more complicated. I ended-up loosing a cat', so I cut both of them off, hung new 3-inch round cats after of the collectors, got some 3-inch mandrel bent pipe, cut a section to connect the driver's side to the merge collector, and had it welded-up. I ended-up trimming a small section of the floor crossmember above the cat', pushed it up, stuffed a Mufflex hanger in there, no more bangy-bangy.

Poly mounts are 50 bucks and they're cake to install with the headers/manifolds out of the way. I did them when I put in my long tubes because I didn't want to screw around with a banging exhaust. Had my TSP ORY, true duals, and now a Pacesetter Y all tucked within 1/2" of the floorboard and it's never made a sound. I don't understand why people will do headers and then take their chances of having a Y pipe cranking their floorboard by not doing motor mounts.

Peacesetter longtubes, custome catted Y, and magnaflow catback, Y pipe banged like a prostitute. Poly motor mounts put her in jail and stopped all the banging!

Custom y-pipe. Best way to go IMO. No banging, rubbing, etc...

seriously, poly motor mounts are not remotely as bad as you think, in fact there not bad at all. People on these forums tend to "scare" people about certain things like the motor mounts about vibration and there isnt anything to worry about. I have a very very slight, not even noticeable vibration on cold starts when in reverse only. Nothing else changed, trust me by putting them in and you will be as happy as can be. WHen i was researching about poly motor mounts i was also worried about this problem and scared that i would have a ton of vibration in the interior. I just put em in to fix the Y pipe banging, which it did completely with no side affects whatsoever!

if you have a big cam and stall converter and have banging, after installing poly motor mounts will you have a lot of interior vibrations or any more banging?
