Default How hard is it to install LT headers on a 99 Trans Am

Im looking at buying headers for my 99 Trans Am and I was just curious on how hard they are to install... I've done headers on an LT1 Camaro before and it stucked *** to be honest, Just wondering if I should actually spend the money to have someone else put them on... thanks

If you have done them on an LT1 then that should be a pretty good idea. Not the same, but close.

Before I installed my headers I was going to have someone else do it for me, but then decided to give it a shot. It wasn't all that bad. To me, the hardest part was jacking it up-it's scary how high the car goes and putting the header bolts in, thats it. There was a slight snag because I didn't have the car high enough so the headers were hitting on the car, so having it really high is crucial. If you've done headers before I say just save the money you'd spend on having someone else do it and do it yourself with some help of a buddy.

Alright Yeah i used semi facks last time and got my camaro about a good 3 1/2 feet off the ground so i dont think the headers hitting the car will be a problem...But anyways thanks for the advice

I did SLPs on my LT1 and the LS1 was way easier. As long as you take out the steering shaft, maybe oil filter and drain plug, and possibly the passengers side coil bracket assembly and dipstick tube. Some people don't have do remove all this stuff but I do because it makes it easy for me.

I say save your money for a dyno tune and do it yourself.

while you're at it, new gaskets, spark plugs, wires...if deleting emissions, egr/air block off plates and a ls1 intake plug for your egr as well...
