Default 255lph Fuel Pump on stock LS1?

Any problems with running a 255 fuel pump on a near stock LS1? (Mods below)

Seems like a buddy of mine with a stock WRX upgraded to a 255 unit on his car and experienced some problems?

Also will it hurt my gas mileage any? Thanks

No problems at all, and your injectors determine the amount of fuel you use, not the pump, so you should be good to go.

is there any particular reason your looking at adding the pump. The stock fuel system can handle a good amount of power

Ah should have mentioned that. Just before it got somewhat cold here in Houston my fuel pump starts to whine after a good amount of driving. May not hurt anything but I feel that I will need to replace it soon. Whine = pump going out?

Also...is the 255 too much for my hopes of maybe just 350hp at the most? Maybe down the road spraying a 75-100 shot. HSW kit.

Anyone? About to buy the pump and now I am scared that I may not need an upgraded unit? Thanks

But is it worth the upgrade? The walbro unit can be found for $100 or less brand new, unsure of what the stock unit costs?

Cheap insurance, yes. You just need to do a little fabbing to the bucket to make the sock fit, then splicing the connector in. Its not bad at all.

You just need a 7 inch fuel line to go from the top of the pump to the top of the sending unit , and we take a couple of hose clamps and clamp the pump to the rod on the sending unit , real simple . I have a link at the shop I can send you if you want to send me an email , there are a few pics and directions .

Pump whine doesn't necessarily mean your pump is going out. These GM pumps are notoriously bad but some noisy pumps run for years. Case in point my old 99 burb: noisey when I bought it at 54k miles and still going strong 3 1/2 years later when my now x-wife sold it. I also have a 99 Z-71 and for the last year or so it gets noisey at times but then quiets up. I put a little over
20k on it over that time. As expensive as a pump is and being a bitch to change I would keep on gettin it. It's easy to check fuel pressure to see if your #'s are low if you are really worried.
