I know a few of the vendors sale the piece... I made a cardboard template and then cut it out of some sheet metal I bought from Home Depot for 5 bucks....

If you dont feel confident in doing it then dont. I am a pretty crafty person and made it myself, cant even tell after all said and done.

For real? AC makes the engine run hotter dude! Keep your windows down until you roll up to the burnout box.

I pulled the entire box out with the engine in the car, heads on and all. You could get that box out easy the way your motor sits now. BTW, there is a heater that plugs into your cig lighter if you want to go that way. Also, I think Burkhart makes a block off plate. I made mine out of aluminum and screwed it into th firewall.

Been a while so you might want to verify this but... There are some bolts on the firewall side and some under the dash inside the car. Just have to scrape away some "goo" to get to 'em. Lots of extensions and gear wrenches help. Pulling the dash is a lot easier than it looks. I did it when I yanked the passenger side airbag. Lot's of 7 mil bolts... To be honest, I don't remeber if I pulled the dash to get the heater box out. I do remeber what a bitch one of the bolts on the firewall was with the headers in the way...

Okay, since my memory sucks, I went digging through some parts and found a HVAC box. It looks like it has to come out through the interior. I think you'd have to pull the dash for that. So.... Might as well get rid of that airbag while you're at it...

LOL.... Yea, I remember looking around and looking around and looking around.. then finally say **** it and just cut that sucker straight up from the firewall. Only took about an hour to get it ripped out.

Then about a half a day to get the metal, cut it, screw it up and paint it and seal it.

If you pull the HVAC box out, that would mean that you have no heating options correct?

When you do start it... As I said before, you will see a small *** hard hose running up thru the area. Dont cut it. Its a vacum hose to where you can change from vent to floor, etc... I made the mistake of tearing that out, then realizing what it was and had to put it back in.
