Default Do balancers go bad?

This is my first camaro and wanted to know if these balancers go bad like the mustangs do. I am asking cause I get a vibration right at 2200rpm and up in park. Thanks for all the help.

I don't think I've ever heard of a balancer going bad but I could be wrong.

Every once in a while I'll hear Corvette owners post up about a failed balancer...search around and I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about.

Look at it while it is running...if it is wobbling like a drunken *****, it's bad.

The wobbling could be that it's not seated properly. Check that first.

It could go bad and cause a problem, but it's unlikely. And it's not really a balancer because these motors are internally balanced. It's just a pulley and vibration dampener.

I checked it and seems to wobble a little, could that casue the vibration cause it doesnt look like it wobbles much. I was going to get a pulley any way so I guess I will find out.

Mine had a slight wobble in it causeing it t have a horrible belt squeal. I changed almost all the other pulleys along with a new belt and even cut the a/c belt off and still had a bad squeak. So I changed up to a U/D pulley and 10,000 miles later no squeak so mine had enough of a wobble to cause a horrid sounding squeak
