Question about FTP lid and SLP MAF

Question about FTP lid and SLP MAF
I just installed these two components today on my 99 Trans Am. No AIT sensor mount, and looking on FTP's website, I saw I don't need it with an aftermarket MAF. Hooked everything up, was feeling weird at WOT in 1st, 2nd and a little in 3rd gear, but now are much smoother. But now, I have a SES light. What codes are normally associated with a new MAF instal? Going to check it out tomorrow, but I can't sleep like this lol. Thanks for the help.

The lid didn't have a hole for the iat sensor or the rubber part that you can just remove from the stock lid and install in the new lid. Just use a big flathead screwdriver to remove it. Common ses's with a maf are running too lean. I have a slp as a backup maf and never had any problems with codes or performance.

FTP's website said that the AIT isn't needed with most aftermarket maf's. And all that does is read the incoming temperature, correct? That really shouldn't set off a SES. If it is from running too lean....the 02 sensors can't tell the ECU to add more fuel?? And if it is to lean..how lean are we talking, and the only way to fix the problem is to have it tuned, right??

The connector won't fit because it's trying to put a two wire connector into a 5 wire slot.
You need to buy a new 5-pin wire harness and then splice in your IAT and maf sensor to the new maf. It's not a simple plug-n-play unless you buy the harness from someone on here that does essentially that. I think it costs in the neighborhood of $25. Do a search.

As long as you have the IAT harness plugged in to the new MAF then you should be fine. If you have the MAF plugged in I would assume you have the adapter harness for the 3 wire to 5 wire, so it should have a spot to plug in your original IAT plug. The 5 wire MAF has the IAT built in, which is why they say you dont need one(or need a separate one to be more accurate), but you still need that portion of your harness plugged in to read it.

FT 85mm Air Lid

The SLP MAF comes with an adapter to plug into the stock harness but still requires you to use the stock IAT sensor (odd that they did this). For all the other 85mm MAF's, you need a harness we sell for 30.00 which allows you to plug into the stock harness AND use the built in IAT which means you can do away with your factory IAT and don't have to drill a hole in our lid.
If you are not ready for the 85mm MAF right now but want to upgrade to our lid, we do sell an adpater to work with the stock MAF but you will have to drill a hold in our lid for the IAT sensor. We provide instructions with our lid on how to do this.
Thanks!
