is it worth coating a set of used Kooks?

I have a set of used kooks lt's and catted ypipe. I have a bit of a wait till my garage with a lift is completed to do the install. Is it worth the money to sent them out to be coated? and if so what coating and coating company should i use?

Aren't all Kooks Stainless?!? I got mine and never coated them and they are holding up fine! If they are all stainless I would not worry about it.

Coating helps to drop temps under the hood. If your not worried about it the kooks are fine without.

why would u want to coat them? (besides underhood temps) they are soooo nice when they're that golden color

I agree. I love how mine look with the AFRs and the fast 90/90 setup. The golden color is just plain sick, and shows characer IMO!

Did you guys polish them before use or just left them as is to obtain that golden color? I was wondering if I should polish them to remove the printing on the pipes.

I didn't polish mine-saw no reason to. I believe either way will get u a golden color. I don't think polishing headers is worth it ( u don't see the entire header anyway) but to each his/her own.

Kooks stainless headers dissapate heat very efficiently, and don't really need coating for under hood temp purposes. On the other hand, if you're looking for the bling factor, go ahead, get 'em coated.

I've installed 3 sets of Kooks on 3 different cars, and they do heat discolor FAST....like almost before you back out of your driveway. The color thing is kinda like the New York Yankees.....you either love 'em, or you hate 'em.....no in-between. I guess if I were building a "show" car, I'd coat mine, but to me, handsome is, as handsome does, and Kooks deliver the goods, bling or blah.
