Default New Intake. New Tune Required?

I have this 4 inch aluminum intake tube which relplaces our squeeze tube on our ls6 cts-v's. I got dyno tuned without the tube installed. My tuner also told me to stay away from metal intake tubes. So I ask, if I install this tube, will it mess up the dyno tunes preciseness (ie bc Im adding the tube, all the ideal parameters will now be different a/f etc?)

Also what are your thoughts on the aluminum tube.

Thanks

So like the bellows from the filter housing to the throttle body?
Not familiar as much with that setup, but if thats all it is is a bellows, no, not enough to warrant a re-tune IMO.

shouldnt be enough difference to matter, he may have told you that though because he thinks it will soak up more heat than a platic/rubber one

You haven changed valve events, I would think the ecu will re-calc things and be good to go. Maybe I'm wrong? Beuhler?

alright, and what are you all's thoughts on the aluminum pipe vs the plastic. The plastic is not smooth ( has those ridges for flexibility) and has a squeeze section where it gets pretty narrow. However the aluminum is smooth, larger diameter, no squeeze, but it gets hotter than the plastic one. So I ask, what should I do? Does the intake charge even spend a long enough time traveling through the tube to effect the temperature?

You haven't changed the volumetric efficiency of the motor which is what happens when you add heads, cam or even headers due to scaveging so all that will happen is as the computer detects more air, it will adjust to a different cell in the fueling table and adjust the amount of fuel added.

It's when you change the way the motor runs and burns fuel through different valve events, different heads with different flow values that you would need to adjust your VE table to account for the mods.

Maybe he was just trying to upsell 'would you like fries with that'?

so would you say even though it gets hotter the aluminum smooth 4" tube > stock squeeze plastic tube?

The tube is going to only get marginally warmer, but won't have an impact on the air temperature.

It's like moving your hand through a flame. Do it at any kind of speed and you'll never feel it.

Well if the motor does breathe better due to the new piping, then I would definitely think its VE would change - but it won't be nearly enough to warrant a new tune.
